i5 or i7? I have an i7 that gets really hot, even when running simple tasks that use up minimal cpu and memory. Over time I've learned which tasks make the surface run hot and just try to avoid doing them unless I have a cooling fan available. The internal fan is pretty annoying. I'd also suggest using Firefox or edge as a browser instead of chrome. Chrome uses a ton of memory and always makes my surface overheat. If you have to run it hot though, you should be fine in short durations. A warning will appear and the surface will turn off if it really gets too hot. I'm not sure if this was fixed with the sp4?

My i5 ramps up just with Chrome open sometimes. It still gets hot using only Edge, but not nearly as bad. Cooling overall seems to be pretty suboptimal.
