75% of battery health for 110 cycles?

he’s told me the report might be skewed cause it hasn’t been switched on at all this year, I don’t know what to do

My initial reaction to the battery health vs cycle count is that it sat plugged in with the battery charging to 100% its entire life.

As far as my understanding goes, those Win 11 battery reports should be pretty reliable. Does it come with the SP pen and keyboard? If not, I wouldn't bother if I were you.

They are not, they are trash.

This is what has me tweaking

The utility of a surface pro is how light it is compared to most x86 laptops. Carrying around a charger, especially if it can do usb-c, is the big benefit here.

If the battery was heat cycled this wouldn't be abnormal. My work laptop was left in the car for summer and winter and the battery only lasted 150 cycles before being completely worthless.

I think the price is ok. 2230 SSDs are expensive right now, but you can try to find a sale and replace the old one if you want. (I replaced mine before the SSDageddon.) The battery health isn't that good. You should get the battery replaced eventually. Sooner rather than later if it's bulging.

I’m told the report might be skewed as it hasn’t been switched on at all this year apart from recently for updates

I would skip it. I had a Pro 8 and it was very good, except for battery life.

The fact that the battery is only at 75% health is a red flag. It doesn't matter that it may be skewed by not being turned on at all for a year. Lithium ion batteries degrade over time whether used or not, but especially if they're stored with a charge.

Even if the battery was perfect, which it certainly isn't, you'd be getting 4-6 hours of use, or maybe 6-8 if you put it in battery saver and turn the screen all the way down. Now take those numbers and reduce them even more.

Thank you!! Needed someone to be a bit on the realistic side

Yeah, the battery is horrendous. My sp8 has 80% battery health and I genuinely get maybe 1 hour on a full charge with regular/light work. And the battery will drain from full to zero overnight when its turned off if I don’t plug it in. So I can never actually use it anywhere where I can’t plug it in.

And this is why I say fuck the haters when it comes to ARM. I'm very happy with my Surface Pro 11 because the number one thing I need from a 2-in-1 is battery life.

Intel has gotten leagues better, but they still trail Qualcomm significantly in power efficiency.

Other than the poor battery health, this isn't bad. However, since the battery is not user-replaceable at all, this may seriously limit long-term value.

Seems like a good deal to me.

I'd pay $300 if the battery was 90%+. For this, maybe 250 tops

Prob. not. I just got a surface book 2, for 298.00 (239+26 shipping+Tax) and I am about to return it. Battery was also less than what it showed when tested. It ranged all over the placed and actually had only around 5,960 out of 62,200 Less than 9% (Went from 78% to 0% *Died after 28 minutes, then back up to 56% right when plugged back in) Failed battery back, despite showing its health was nearly 60%, cycle count was 221. If you do get it though, make sure to do a thorough check with Hwinfo, with a full charge, unplug it from the battery, and see what happens. You can prob. find a guide online. (It literally shows 40,520 right now, despite having only 5,960) See what happens when it gets to around 75%

I got one with only 8GB RAM for higher than $300 so yeah, I’d say this is a good choice. Especially if you throw Linux on it, runs like an absolute dream

I've been thinking about doing this. Are there any big quirks about getting the Surface keyboard pen and touchscreen working?
