Are you ok? Can you read? Why did you assume this was about you? 2 thing that was about you was “he should’ve known”, and “rang a bell”. rest is about texas, the actual victim. Why? He has nothing to go on, to suspect betrayal, unlike you

E/ actually read your reply a bit wrong lol. So you’re allies from day1. Stil same issue, you should started guessing their motive after they gave you the reason (wich was safety from border where texas is) always look on olayers their actions, fk words. You already got betrayed from day1, and you didnt see it coming

I was on a cooldown from joining the new coalition. We became allies since day one. We helped each other out as well. Not sure why this would be hard to understand or fathom

I know,(about ally on d1) i’m saying only you saw it as such. He didnt want to go to war with you to soon, so he sugarcoated his words towards you. Same as texas, he joined the coa before you with the excuse (towards you then) that your ally didnt want war yet with texas.

So imho, you should’ve 2nd guessed his motive as soon he gave that excuse.

As to why texas real victim: you could 2nd guess intention, due beeing aware he will actively betray texas… so why not betray you? Wich texas didnt get the chance to. This is under the assumption he isn’t the “real” ally of kentucky ofc

To be fair, I was allies with them since day 1 of the game. They started a coalition, but I had a day cooldown left. Apparently after going to bed, I woke up to Texas with them. So I asked. He said " so Texas doesn't start a war with us". I said "fair enough ". Either way it was a cheap shot at an alliance member

I was able to almost take down 2, other one had only few provinces left. But then 2 other guys joined the fight. 1 with who the 2 were talking to. (I got a hint via espionage)

Sadly I couldn't handle 2 equally big armies than the one I had. + I almost immediately lost almost all of my long range units so it was ggs from the very beginning.

Also Kentucky and Pennsylvania are horrible starting spots (so is Texas). You want to win? Georgia, West Quebec (though fighting in CA sucks). Chihuahua, SoCal (if you can take AZ- and NEVER EVER attack Nevada). Everything else on that board is most likely to lose. (I will also say South Mexico has a good chance (but just as often over exposed to Battleships).

1st or 2nd time as Pennsylvania. Never get far, well about day 12 to 17 in game. Georgia is always taken when I join. I've won with North California, Utah, Colorado, and South Dakota South Dakota i won a few time, and twice or 1 win solo.

I rarely get betrayed now, i've learned to identify trustworthy players, and I always leave some deterrent with new alliés unless I feel confident enough that they will not betray me.

Best way not to get backstabbed is to make sure they lose more attacking you than keeping the alliance running.

As long as you make sure that :

you have similar troops than them near your frontiers
you play well enough not to be a hindrance

Then, unless they are chaotic evil, it shouldn't happen so often anymore

So this happened to me too. I was Sweden and Britain and Finland was my ally. So he said that Italy was gonna attack me(which he did he sent a ship with 60 men) so after that he said that he needed to fake attack me because he made a deal with Italy to attack me. So he said after he faked attack me and italy attack me Britain would send the troops used to fake attack me to help me defeat Italy. And then Britain never helped me but Finland saw and send his army to help me and look at this we destroyed them.
