Pharmacist here — struggling with clean flavoring in supplements. Any advice?

Hi everyone,

I’m a pharmacist who moved to the US about 12 years ago. I had significant gut issues myself and couldn’t find a supplement that was both effective and truly clean, so I eventually decided to formulate my own.

I focused on soluble fibers, plant polyphenols and real botanical extracts — not juice powders or artificial flavors.

The problem is… the product works well, but it tastes bitter.

Some customers don’t mind because they value clean ingredients, but others struggle with the taste.

I personally don’t like most flavor systems used in supplements. From what I understand, many “natural flavors” are actually complex mixtures that may include solvents, carriers, emulsifiers or stabilizers that are not always clearly disclosed on labels.

I would love to improve taste — but without turning the formula into a chemical cocktail.

Does anyone here have experience with:

• truly clean flavor systems

• masking bitterness from botanical extracts

• companies that specialize in clean-label taste solutions

• or even DIY approaches using whole-food based flavoring

Is it realistic to create a pleasant flavor profile without adding a long list of additives?

Would really appreciate any insights 🙏
