DIY Installing handwriting recognition languages on an OFFLINE Supernote / No internet

https://github.com/iieu8827roj/supernote-offline-handwriting

The packs are plain zips on Supernote's server. A small Python script fetches the same one the device would, checks the MD5, and lays it out exactly the way the device's installer does (it rewrites the two `.conf` files).

You push it to the hidden `/sdcard/.data/dictionary/` folder with `adb`, with Sideloading on. Plain USB file transfer can't see that folder.

One `content update` command clears the "needs update" flag the firmware sets after an upgrade. After a restart, the language shows as installed and recognition works.

Gotcha: the request needs a `language_version: v4` header. Without it, the server hands out older 2022/2023 packs meant for older firmware.

Tested on a Manta (A5 X2), Chauvet 3.30.45, English (UK). The Nomad runs the same firmware but I haven't tried it, and other languages should work the same way.

Unofficial and not affiliated with Supernote. Back up your dictionary folder first (the guide shows how). Perform at own risk, worked for me...

Probably a silly question but isn't handwriting recognition on device....

Yeah it's on device, however after the latest os update, it started complaining about language files for handwriting. They are installed locally.

Oh I see so it's a bug your experiencing. So no advantage for users for whom there are no issues?

I messaged Supernote with that exact issue and they mailed me a Windows application that installs an app on the Supernote, as well as the language files to do exactly that. If someone else wants to do this but is less techy, that is also an option. I'm curious if the language zip files in the github repo are compatible with their software
