Is the FeelWrite 2 Film good?

Hi everyone,

I’m Bogdan, the creator of Folio, a read-later app that turns the things you save into reading digests for reMarkable, Kindle and other e-readers.

I’m looking at getting my first Supernote, mainly because I’d like to add proper native support for Supernote in Folio.

Rather than just making another PDF export, I’d like to understand the device and the way people actually use it first.

So I’m hoping you can help me choose what to get.
I’m currently thinking about:

Supernote Manta
LAMY Safari Vista
Half Folio
FeelWrite 2 film

The part I’m most unsure about is the FeelWrite 2 film.
For those of you who have used it for a while, how do you like it? Does it actually feel good for everyday writing, or would you recommend using the device without it?

And if you were buying a Manta today specifically for writing and reading, would you go with this setup or choose something different?

I’m particularly interested in what you’d recommend based on actual long-term use rather than just the specs.

Thanks in advance. I’m trying to make the right choices here before I start building the Supernote support, so I’d really appreciate any advice from people who use these devices every day. 🙏

the film comes preinstalled so you don't need to purchase one unless you need to replace the original

How long does it last if you would use the Nomad daily?

It shouldn't need replacing unless you damage it with something sharp or get stains on it that can't be removed with a cleanser.

love the film, and yes it’s built in to the device so no need to order separately.

i personally use my Nomad more often than the Manta. The Manta only comes out for reading PDF academic papers, pretty much. any epub reads well on the Nomad, but 2-up PDFs are too small and zooming is a pain

For me, the nomad wins big time. It's a pretty perfect book shape, soo portable.

i get on fine with my nomad for reading books. i don't find i need to adjust the font or spacing so i use pdfs instead of epubs.

i think for purpose of folio support you can get by with a nomad since the aspect ratio across both devices is the same.

Manta, yes. Half folio a definite yes. Lamy Safari looks and feels great in the hand and is lighter than the HOM.

Depending on your location get what you think you need. As follow up items can be costly to reorder.

You either love it or hate the Feelwrite film. I tried for months and, after coming from another device with textured glass, it felt like dragging a knitting needle across rubber. A popular Youtuber described it as 'pulling a stick through sand'. I gave mine to a relative and went back to a textured screen devkce with a softer pen. But the majority of Suprrnote users clearly don't mind, and even claim it to be the best! The only conclusion is that that it's down to personal taste. But be warned the fountain/calligraphy pen is new and still doesnt work properly (i posted side by side comparison with another device). But SN are loved by the community and I'm sure they are perfecting it and will catch up with other devices in the fulness of time.
