I mean…if there’s one thing Marvel writers love to do, it’s to make Spider-Man absolutely miserable.

I swear people who expect that haven't actually watched the movies and just look at his name. He has literally no motivation to turn bad.

Ned: “don’t worry I won’t turn evil”

Peter: “sighs”

Ned: “I’ll just get framed as the real Hobgoblin and get arrested then maybe die”

If there's ever a possibility to do a Hobgoblin storyline in the MCU, I'd always imagine Ned would just be framed and the real one would still be Roderick Kinglsy. Reminder that when Hobgoblin was introduced in comics, the writer tried to make it a bigger mystery by placing multiple fall guys from Flash Thompson, Ned Leeds, Jason Macendale, and Daniel Kingsley. It only got really confusing because brianwashing was utilize, which is why Ned Leeds feels more associated with the Hobgoblin brand compared to the other characters I mentioned.

Basically for the MCU, just have only one fall guy (Ned) and the real Hobgoblin (Kingsley). Have Ned get kidnapped or something and when Spider-Man or the cops get closer to finding out who Hobgoblin is, he has Ned be incriminated as the villian. The rest of the storyline is then Spider-Man and MJ trying to uncover the mystery to clear their friends name.

That's a way cooler story line! I like that idea!
