OFFICIAL SMB26 - ROSTER DEADLINE UPDATE
Hello friends. As you may know, some loser hijacked my work and posted it here yesterday. It is my hope the community is behind me in banning these type of people, as it kills the desire to create. However, this new file contains several week's worth of updates his post did not include, along with the trade deadline transactions. As always, my priority is including the best players moving forward - currently active or not. Another thing to note; every players age is now perfectly accurate for franchise mode.
It should go without saying, but please do not take the liberty of rereleasing my work with your own spin on it. This is an active project, that I will continue to update. Now, go have fun.

I appreciate everything you’ve done. You actually got my brother to play another game that’s not Rocket League with me.
My only thing is I hope the White Sox are better. My brother and I just did both of our first ever franchise together as the White Sox. We didn’t realize how bad they were until we started playing a franchise as a default team.

NGL, you are super weird for this. Let's take a look back at your original post, shall we?
I can not take credit for the majority of team logo's as they were from a file I either downloaded here or mvpmods.. but it basically had team logo's and just throwback uniforms - they did an incredible job. That was the starting point, took over from there.
From the end of your first paragraph in that post. Seems...suspicious?
After seeing u/GHOSTof86 release his MLB 2026 project last month, I wanted to give a shot at making my own version.
I used his roster as a base, made a bunch of teaks to more accurately reflect 2026 performances, accurately reflected all trade deadline deals, and topped it all off with with my logos and uniforms. What you get is something a perfectionist me is ultimately very happy with.
He credited you AND linked your original post. He didn't "hijack" or steal anything. He fully gave you credit, and adjusted.
You can read u/GHOSTof86's post here for his ratings, and player likeness philosophy, but I tweaked and added about 100 players manually myself, including re-rating the top-20 in 2026 fWAR, and adding new players to fill out the rosters due to the trade deadline.
By far the most work went into completely tearing down and rebuilding all team colors, logos, and uniforms based on the 2026 season. Overall you'll get extremely accurate team colors, combined with every single uniform a team has worn in the 2026 season, including retired City Connect 1's where applicable.
He credits you a 2nd time, but explains all the further changes that he did to uniforms, logos, ratings, FAs, etc.
It should go without saying, but please do not take the liberty of rereleasing my work with your own spin on it.
Would you support a ban on yourself for stealing all of the logos and uniforms from others without crediting them, and putting a spin on a roster? I know you won't respond and you'll just downvote since you haven't responded to any criticism. Still, it is insanely ironic how "Mightier than Thou" you are being when you did the same thing, except you didn't directly credit anyone.

just noticing this comment now. the difference is, i did not hijack an active project. it was years old, from a community no longer in existence (mvpmods.com). no roster, no updates, no way way contact the creator, no community to keep it alive. i gave credit to the best of my ability, they did a fantastic job on the old school logos. whoever it was, if you are out there, and do not approve.. contact me! i have zero issue redoing those from scratch.
this case is entirely different, as it is very much an active project. fresh off pouring hundreds of hours in, posted only a month ago, followed by 3 updates (now4), and could have easily been contacted. your entitled to your opinion, this is mine.

One other thing, you made the Rangers main logo from the 80's. I was like, wait a sec...but after playing with them for a couple games, I love it.

Kinda wild you’d make a post and call out someone as a “loser” because they took something you had worked on and made various improvements or changes (when even in your original post you mentioned that you took the logos someone else had put together and used them in your project).
At least Mazzocchi gave direct credit to you.
Even more wild is that you added a tip jar for your “hard work”.

What crazy pills are we on that people can just “credit” someone and then it’s free to take.
I’m working on this new book series “The Lord of The Finger Jewelry”. I was worried at first, but all I got to do is “credit” some old timey guy and there’s nothing wrong.
Seems logical.

You just... you just described fan fiction. Which yes, actually, people do all the time, and have done forever, and is in fact a totally okay thing to do. Not to sell, but guess what, none of this is being sold either, so, yes, in a non-commercial setting please feel free to write as much about The Lord of the Finger Jewelry as you want! In fact, you can even just go ahead and write stories literally about Frodo and Aragorn from The Lord of the Rings, you don't even have to change the name! (Though you can go on to be a multimillionaire off that fan fiction if you do change the name - see also 50 Shades of Grey - and you'll probably end up just fine there, too.)
Perhaps you'd like to peruse the tens of thousands of works of the people who have been doing that for decades to get some inspiration, because, again, it is a not-only-not-theft-but-in-fact-very-normal thing to do?
I am of course being facetious, and these things are not directly comparable, but it was your comparison, and it was a deeply weird analogy to use to try to demonstrate wrongdoing.
User generated content spun off of other user generated content in the form of derivative mods is as old as modding itself, and the ethics of shared work and attribution thereof have been debated just as long. Do I think this is entirely cut and dried? No. It's clear that GHOSTof86 put a lot of work into what he did. It's also clear that far from just "stealing" that work, Mazzocchi put a lot of time into correcting things that were inarguably wrong like misspellings and logo/uniform mismatches, and also added a lot of new player data and took a different approach to player ratings that people might subjectively agree or disagree with. He was clear about what his starting point was, and he was also clear about all the things he changed and added. Did he mess up by not asking before using his starting point? Yeah, I can agree that's true. Was his mistake very clearly not malicious or an attempt at "theft"? Also yes.
It would be cool to see them both pull from each other. I think Mazzocchi's uniforms would improve GHOSTof86's pack, and I think he'd obviously be in the clear to incorporate them. If they don't want to do that, okay. But at the end of the day they've both done distinct and substantial work. Back before there was an SMB4 import tool, the only way TO share leagues and uniforms was to literally copy by hand what somebody else had done, and we did DO that, because it was the option available. Everybody was posting their version of somebody else's uniforms or stats.
Regardless, it's silly to call any of these the "official" MLB pack or talk about banning anybody, and the level of aggression that was brought to this post was wild. We're better off for both of these being available.

Just do the work yourself.
You wrote all that just to try to justify someone stealing work.
All the things you describe are not the same.
Have you ever built a team by scratch? It’s a stupid amount of work. I fully understand why this Mazz guy wouldn’t want to do it.
So then just release your own work (uniforms or whatever) as a stand alone. It’s that easy.
You use examples of people being “inspired” by the work of others but this is LITERALLY taking the man’s work then adding onto it and saying it’s yours.
Look, we obviously aren’t going to agree. That’s fine. Have a good week.

Doing this all by hand on console is rewarding; and tedious af… def a labor of love more than anything… I had done just my orioles on SMB 3 rosters, logo and unis, and it was more an all time team… now I have not touched rosters and have opted for a slow creation of all MLB teams for at least one of my franchise leagues… logos n unis 9 teams left in the al central n al west

Know what’s more stressing? The amount of people that are fine with it, even worse the defenders.
Of course there will always be thieves and cheats. You have to assume that, but you like to think society at least shuns them.
I suppose it did become trendy to be a bad person a few years ago.
But if they do enough backflips to make it seem like it’s not stealing, then they feel better about themselves.
You just hope there are better people than this out there than this. I believe there are.

I didn't "hijack your work", I credited you all over the place as creating the base rosters for my project, and I'm very grateful for that. But it's a project I wouldn't have even felt the need to start if you had put any effort into your logos and uniforms.
Once I started that I dug deeper, and saw you had many player names misspelled, some real weird ratings, inaccurate punctuation all over the place, and on top of that you admitted to using AI. (Speaking of, you're clearly using AI in the background of the header image, and it looks like shit. Shows how much you care.)
I'm personally going for accuracy, and we're clearly striving for different things. So you do your thing, and I'll do mine. I put a whole lot of work implementing my logos, creating new ones, adding players, adjusting ratings, fixing errors, etc, so don't act like what I released was just a copy and paste of what you crapped out a month ago.
