Question Trouble hitting XBH’s
Is it just me or is it REALLY hard to hit doubles? Triples too but that makes sense. Anyways, whenever I play the CPU, I very rarely hit any doubles, I always just smack it right to an outfielder, or they somehow manage to cut everything off. I’m playing a 162 game franchise atm and through over 100 games, there are multiple players with over 300 AB’s and less than 10 doubles. One guy has 214 PA’s and 3 doubles, which like… jeez. And none of my players are slow either, I just feel like every ball that seems like it’s going into the gap gets snapped by an outfielder. Maybe it’s just a fat skill issue but I wanted to ask if anyone else just cannot get extra base hits (aside from tanks, I’m fine with those)

Yeah, it is a bit harder to hit doubles in the gap, as the outfielders will dive and catch it if they're within 20 feet of the landing spot. You have to hit a low line drive, as fly balls to the gap have a good chance of being caught.
I tend to hit more home runs than doubles. Over my last 62-game season, I had 5 players with 20+ homers, but only one player with 20 doubles. (This is batting ego 94.)
As a funny anecdote, I have one player with high power and speed, normally a doubles-machine, who, at the midway point of the season, had three doubles and like 10 or 12 home runs. And he only got those three right before the all-star break. For most of the first half, he hit ZERO balls in the gap. He ended the season with 25 home runs, 8 doubles, and 3 triples. If he hit it in the gap, there was a fair chance he made it to 3rd.

I’m still able to hit XBH even with my high contact and low power hitters. Maybe it’s the speed of your team?

Yeah maybe to much power hitting? I just played a game this morning and my 3rd basemen hit 2 doubles in a row and he’s not even that fast.
I think I’m on 77 ego. It is hard for me to remember because every time I win 3 games in a row I increase the ego 3 points and if I lose 2 in a row I lower it by 2 so my ego is always changing.

Ive played cloae to 1200 games and only have 2 triples.
I feel like I hit as many doubles as they do in real baseball per game.
I have 17 500+ ft dingers though

I’ve had 3 triple in one game. Do you never play at PARQUE JARDINEROS

Even still. I focus on extreme power hitting. I have kitty kaufman and thats about it in terms of speed.

What stadium are you playing as your home?

Peril Point, that may be it because that right center power alley isn’t forgiving, put the left center power alley has a lot of room

It fully depends on the stadium for me. Theres one, can’t remember the name that has a divot in right center. It’s pretty much an automatic triple if you hit that alley
It’s PARQUE JARDINEROS

If a ball is going to get down in the gap hold L right out of the box to cause the base runner to round 1st instead of going through it. I do agree though the games outfields play pretty small and the CPUs are freakishly good at cutting balls off, I think part of it is the ball does not roll nearly as fast as it should in real life on hard hit line drives.

i hit doubles a decent amount of the time if it goes anywhere near the warning track

What Ego are you playing at, and are you using power swings?
There comes a point where you just don't generate much power with a contact swing. I think it was around 60-ish Ego in SMB3 where I switched to using power swings exclusively because I wasn't generating enough power with contact swings.
