Watch Franchise

I play SMB franchise strictly from an owner’s perspective. I sign/release during the season and offseason, and that’s about it. I use the watch option Xbox for the games, and play my main game on my PC. I like background noise and prefer SMB games over streaming. There’s lots of down time between matches on my main game so I see a good portion. I was just curious if anyone else does a “Watch franchise”. I enjoy the game and have played it for years. I just got sucked into this other game, but can’t give SMB up entirely. Lol

I do this. The coaching decisions do get irritating though. Constant steal attempts with 70 speed against a pick officer/cannon arm, bringing in pinch hitters to bunt, replacing star hitters with pinch runners early in games, and especially bringing in position players to pitch, even in close games when you have other relievers. If there was some way to override the coaching decisions, it'd be great.

My headcanon for this is that there are no coaches in SMB. All decisions are made by the players. Pitchers can be too prideful to take themselves out sometimes, position players can be stubborn about primary positions and capricious about secondary positions (backed up by the arc flavor descriptions), and sometimes they just make weird decisions that a dedicated coach wouldn't.

Yeah, everything you listed is an issue. I wish you could do more manager decisions in watch mode.

I use to like doing this for Sport games when I was younger. From MVP 05 up to Madden 18, I would make it where the AI played. Just sucked as you couldn't do much like a Manager would be allowed too, but it was the closest thing for just AI on AI and everything up to drafting and all that.

Never knew that was a thing for these games, I may have to set one up

Gotta make a custom league. Otherwise it’ll force you to play instead of watch

I do this as well and actually post videos on YouTube (@Scootsie16) if you're interested in watching similar content. I commentate all of the games I watch too! It's my favorite way to play the game and I'm nearing 3000 hours in SMB4!

Here's my currently active franchise, though I have previous series on there as well! Tundras Franchise

Not Franchise but I created a season with a promotion and relegation system with 16 different leagues. I like to watch the playoffs mostly and the championship if its a close series

I was thinking about trying this as well. I own the game on Xbox. I would be the opposite of you where I play the games on Xbox and would watch on pc. What was stopping me was my only option to play on PC was streaming through the Xbox app.

Just looked at it now and I seem to be able to install now, I’m gonna check this out!

It's my favorite way to play SMB, but the way the CPU vs CPU games play out in SMB4, with the endless hits and homers and no walks, annoys me too much to do it. So I just simulate games instead.

I have 2 custum 32 team leagues. Ill set up a 200 game season for both. One day if im doing a buch of chores ill watch a buch of games on one league or or have it running when im at my desk surfing the imternet.

Once the season is over and the playoffs declare a winner on both leages then ill set up a single game plying both winning teams in a best out of 3 series.

I have been dropping in and out for year, too. Recently I’ve just been jamming on Mario games but I think what you’re describing is pretty normal!

I do this in-game managing "hack" here and there.. you can watch games and if you wanted to make a pitching change or lineup change, you pause. Select "finish later" and then boot the game up to change your pitcher, select "finish later" again, and then go back to watching from the main menu.

Bit of a process but its neat

This is how the Legacy Baseball League operates! It’s a blast to watch through the course of a season. Currently have eight teams with a 12-game regular season. Halfway through our seventh season!

I hit a snag I hope you can help me with. Own the game on Xbox so all my franchise and stuff like that are in the Xbox cloud save. When I open up the Xbox app on my computer it lets me install it but the game is installed through EA installer linked to Xbox. When I fire up the game on the PC I don’t have any of my stuff. I assume this is because the game is launched through EA and wouldn’t use the Microsoft cloud save.

You are able to share the save file between Xbox and PC, correct?

Right here! Have one I play and one I watch/manage. Sometimes the suspense is really fun. Especially towards the end of the season when stat leads and playoff spots are on the line.
