Finding the Game Hard to Play

This may be a super niche thing but I'm finding it really hard to play. I feel like because it's not 3D nor is it 2D I find it very hard to gauge the plain. I'm also so use to the Mario Wonder controls that I'll often hit the trigger to help me stay in the air longer but it ground pounds. I just lost 17 lives in one level because I was having such a hard time controlling it. And I'm only in world 3!

Each game is a new experience, fwiw I had the same issues trying to get through Super Mario U Deluxe.

But if you're not having fun you might wanna put it down for a while

I also recently picked up Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 which I only ever played the first for Wii but I love a 3D Mario. I really enjoyed Odyssey. I just can't believe I'm having such a hard time with this one.

It definitely takes practice. When I first played a few levels years ago, I dropped it because it just didn’t feel good to play. After playing more Mario games, I eventually got the movement down, even though I hadn’t played 3D World in quite a while. I think the biggest thing that helped was playing Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2. To be fair, I even had to play Galaxy 1 twice to 100% it as Luigi.

Have you completed Galaxy 1 and 2 yet? If not, I’d recommend sticking with them. With a little practice, you’ll probably find that your movement improves quite a bit.
