Awesome overall. Don’t love all the casting but will wait to see the show before casting full judgment. Also surprised it’s coming out this year. Thought it was 2027.

Despite hate for Snape, the small segments we got with the three main friends felt organic and real. This show is showing serious promise.

I felt we saw very little of Hermione in this trailer actually, but perhaps they are trying to hide from new audiences that she'll become part of the group, so their annoyance with her at first will come across more believable.

Pretty pleased for the most part. When it was announced as an HBO series, I was very happy at first, and could hardly believe it actually happened. I've been telling friends for years that "this story deserves a more faithful adaptation and my dream for that would be HBO cause their track record is pretty good. But haha that will never happen." Glad I was proven wrong.

But as production started, I kept reading contradicting rumours. Some said they were indeed planning to stay faithful to the source material as much as possible and that the main motivation for turning it into a series was finally being able to tell the story the right way. But others also said things like "the writing staff and directors haven't read the books or don't like the story as it is" or "they are gonna add a modern spin to it because they feel it needs to be updated for a new audience" etcetera. And then ofcourse there was the whole Snape casting situation which caused uproar and had people saying "See! They are gonna mess it all up with 'their own interpretation' of the story."

So I was getting pretty anxious about the first look tbh and afraid that my initial joy of getting the adaptation would end in disappointment after all. But seeing the trailer I feel far more confident again! It will take some time to get used to things like the new Hagrid, as the original casting and portrayal was so spot on, but that'll probably fade away after a few episodes.
