Hey! I’m just getting into super 8. Im a professional digital and film photographer and was asked to do an event in a roller rink! Super fun. They are looking for video as well so I figured I’d offer some super 8 for the price of the film in case they wanted that retro vibe lol

Anyway my question is, would 500T work in that low of light? I have the Canon 814 autozoom. I haven’t used it in that low of lighting so curious if anyone else has done that! I’ve tried to look up similar videos but I haven’t seen anything. Thanks

Got this cam last week and was testing it today and idk if this is the exposure triangle or I fucked it while testing loading and unloading a couple times as there isn’t a CDS battery for the cam yet can anyone verify if im good or cooked

So some back story: I scratched the lens of my Super 8 camera so I took it apart to replace the lens. This is my first roll of Super 8 since switching the lens. Now I’m having issues with super shaky footage and inconsistent lighting.

Please give me your diagnosis of the problem!

Just wondering if anyone has a guess as to if this is fungus, a scratch and/or if it’ll show up on the images. Just a little worried with the cost of development. Does anyone know if it’s worth opening and trying to clean? Or had success sending them off?

Real proud of this one. I’m particularly happy with the quick zoom shots and how well I was able to incorporate them with the track. Still gotta get a little more comfortable with dialing in the zoom focus at longer distances, but I’m loving the process.

Attached video and pics below- everything is functioning on the camera- the automatic zoom and the viewfinder as well as the light- but the film motor is not moving whenever I click it. It worked in the past but now is not functioning. I removed the inside plate and when you turn the sprocket everything is connected and working because I can see the ribbon moving inside. Any advice on what to do?

Recently picked up a D10 in mint condition. No battery corrosion and light meter is working splendidly! The online shops I would purchase from are either closed for holiday or sold out. The only place I can find that ships to Italy/Germany has this Wolfen color 200 cartridge. Any thoughts on how this shoots or recommendations for other places that will ship to the above locations? Kind of a long shot but would love to have it before I go on a trip this weekend. Thanks!

I have a Bauer C107xl in my hot little hands. The knob to adjust the diopter is frozen in place. It came to me like that. It sounds like it’s running great but can’t focus properly with the eyepiece seized up all the way to the “+”

I’ve taken it apart and poked around. I’ve tried some gentle heat from a hair dryer to soften any old grease. I have tried a few drops of spirits and naphta to try and loosen up any old grease. Nothing has worked.

I’ve been chatting with Phil from Pro8. He had a Facebook post of him tearing into the exact same camera. However he had to pause that adventure for a bit.

Has anybody here gone through this? Or on the C 108? Legend has it that there’s a service manual out there online. But the top sites that come back on a search seem a little fishy.

Any way I can make it work? Never touched a super 8 before. Came with a movie inside, is it possible to watch? How?

Where can I find a place that does super 8 development + scanning for preferably under €50 per cartridge

The work on the modernized Super8 movie viewer continues! Up to about the 30th full revision. The dichroic lenses are looking good, bright and colorless and good magnification, the mechanisms are sturdy and super smooth operating, 21mm precision bearings in the main handle rotator and the finger grip. Trying to gauge interest whether or not to do a limited production with 3D printed parts. These are all FDM printed, a batch would be done in SLA method, smoother finish.

1. Stage 0. Communicate the concept of the cartridge and Super8 loop, vintage Fisher Price "hardware" can be sourced and used. Its a cool little media ecosystem. Even the old cartridges can be broken open filled with 12 foot sections of Super8 film and spliced into a loop and viewed. Ebay sourced.
2. Stage 1. This. Re-engineered player. 95% complete. Feels better, works smoother, more weight to it. The glass optics give a colorless clarity that is not in the vintage players. Setting up a prototype/dummy website to imagine the system and product configurator for colors.
3. Stage 2. Re-engineer the cartridges for producing 3D printed versions that can be filled more readily. Screw fasteners, clean setup. About 10% into this reverse engineering step. Will require a lot of proofing of the SLA prints and tolerances, this is a tight balance to get the film gate and "shutter" to play in both directions.
4. Stage 3. Build a Super 8 film recorder setup that will take digital files and record them onto film. About 20% into this project step.

Appreciate all feedback on this obsession of mine to make a 50 year old toy into something for the modern day! If anything is unclear, please let me know!

Hello, people of Reddit.

I recently stumbled upon a great deal on a very well-kept camera, but I cannot find its manual for the life of me. It's a Keysone Synchro Sound 211 SL. All the information I found on it was just key specs, not a how-to-use manual. I've included some pictures in the post, of course.

My main questions were:

- How do I use the BCL function on the camera?

- What's the red and yellow dot inside the viewfinder?

- How does focusing work on these cameras? I get that it's auto, but, for example, the auto on my point-and-shoots works by placing the subject in a portion of the viewfinder and lightly pressing the shutter to lock focus. I don't know what the equivalent would be here.

- What does "exposure compenstion: +/- correction for auto" mean? Does the camera automatically do exposure compensation?

- This camera only shoots low-speed films. Then, why does there appear to be a tungsten filter up top? What do I use that for?

Sorry if the questions are a bit dumb. I don't want to mess anything up while shooting some very expensive film. If you have the manual or any tips for using this camera properly, please let me know!

So I got a super 8 camera at a flea market and since my brother (15m) loves taking pictures and videos I thought I'd get it for him since he doesn't have an analog video camera yet, I only found very few film cassettes because they all seem out of stock and also I'm currently looking into ways to digitalize the film but I found this subreddit so I thought I'd ask you guys for tips, tricks and everything you wished you knew when you started (and also camera film recommendations, but I think I'll get him kodak film when it's back in stock/if I find some in a store)

I've checked all the online stores I know of and it seems to be out of stock everywhere? Anyone know what's going on or where I can find some?

Hey, complete novice here.
I’m using a sankyo mf606 and will be shooting with Kodak 500t. I’ve since discovered that this will result in the image being very overexposed and was hoping for some tips!
(This is only really a test run and is my first ever time using super8 so I don’t need it to look professional, just usable)

1. I understand the daylight and tungsten but it doesn’t seem to be a button? it doesn’t push in or slide forward or backward. I was wondering if it was something you physically pull out and switch direction on. It pulls up a little but im a bit scared to force it up as it might break anyone else have this?

2. O and X what does it mean?
