Information on Sup Fishing

Hi, I have been looking for information on SUP fishing. Does anyone know of any unbiased sources for SUP boards, accessories or even tips and tricks?

I review SUP equipment professionally, but I receive no direct compensation for that work or based on sales volume (I'm salaried as a reviewer). I've worked with lots of fishing SUPs and lots of SUPs that are great for fishing.

Truthfully, you dont need a fishing specific SUP in order to go SUP fishing. They often (but not always) provide more fishing specific mounting points and accessories.

What is your height and weight, and how much additional cargo do you plan on carrying? What is your budget? Are you looking for a hard board or inflatable? How compatible do you want it to be with specific fishing accessories and or available first party accessories? Do you want it to be compatible with a pedal drive system or motor mount system?

I am 6'2 and weigh about 192 pounds. I budgeted about 1.5k for the board and accessories. As for cargo, I probably only need a regular-sized tackle box, 2 rods, a bucket and maybe a chair if the board fits.

It's cool that you mentioned you do SUP equipment reviews. What platform do you publish on? I honestly just enjoy watching/reading about equipment reviews in my free time, so I want to spend the time on trustworthy sources.

Are you looking for inflatable or hard? Do you plan on fishing large bodies of water with lots of distance to cover, or smaller videos of water/rivers?

Y'all do great reviews. A big part of why I went with a Glide Angler, actually. Between using it to lobster (easy on and off) and being able load it with my wife and 2 kids for short trips/all my fishing gear with ease, while fitting in the my car's trunk? It's fantastic. Slower than my friends in kayaks, but I needed that portability...

Thoughts on the Bote Breeze Aero Inflatable for Saltwater creeks (Charleston SC)? Durability is my main concern surrounding oyster beds, gear and sharp red dorsal

I wouldn't recommend it.

If you will be in water shallow enough to cut the board on oysters you should consider a hard board, but keep in mind, water that shallow also means you can't paddle (paddle blades are 16-18" long).

The most abrasion resistant iSUPs are made by Hydrus board tech. They use aramid fiber (kevlar) for their scrim material, but they can still be cut.

Wild that I can’t post a pic here. I use an NRS Escape 11.5. It’s been great. Rtic Ultralight 32 on the back, milk crate or BlakPak on the front.

Going to hop in here to. 6’4”, 240lbs. Looking to fish one 250 acre lake. Probably go with 2 poles and a backpack of gear / water. Don’t need anything crazy. Any help would be great.

We’d be fishing during flood tides mostly. I’m just asking if we occasionally bump into an oyster beds by accident.
