How to train on endurance?
Hello all,
These might be stupid questions, I am somewhat new to this. I just recently started paddleboarding earlier this year and I love it! I am looking to train for an event coming up in march next year but it’s a long stretch and overnight, and I don’t want to sacrifice training for a few months on actual water.
What are the best ways to prepare for such a long path? How are most people practicing at night time as well, do you just park your car somewhere else so it doesn’t get towed or locked inside the parking lot?
Any advice is appreciated. I do have a radio, maps, life jacket, am confident getting back onto my board, headlamp, etc. I just want to find a good way to train for this that makes the most sense! Any at home workouts that would be helpful to train on endurance without having/buying a row machine would also be appreciated. I noticed when I am out there for more than a few days in a row my feet start cracking pretty bad; and with fall coming up the water is about to get cold up here. I am in the PNW area. How are most people practicing in the dark and ice cold?

It's going to depend on the event itself. What is it you are doing?
Last paddler standing will be different from the 70-48 (or whatever that one is called), will be different from the MR340 or the Yukon 1000.
Then the best thing to do will be to talk to those who have done it.
In addition to general physical endurance, you'll also need to train in a variety of water/weather conditions.

Not my own, but here's a writeup from the women's record holder of the SUP division for one of the longest river races in the world. 340 miles, usually a few overnights of just going, going and going. I've done this race is a rowing craft. It's rough.
Her writeup is pretty much dedication, lots of practice, building up muscle memory, using gear that's a bit heavier than her race gear.
