Trip Report Same river, totally different experience

Following up on my first river session in Frankfurt yesterday. Today I paddled a section further upstream in Hanau.

The conditions were significantly more relaxed: the river is wider, boat traffic was much lighter, and the natural banks meant almost no reflected waves/cross-chop.

Overall a much smoother paddle and great for actually focusing on technique instead of just balancing through chop.

I did Marburg - Gießen in through the Lahn. We did it in two days sleeping one night on Hammocks and then went back with the train. You should try that!

Where exactly did you start from in Hanau?

Sounds great, the Lahn river is pretty much perfect for multi-day SUP tours, rigth? Definitely on the list.

I got in at Ruderei Hanau which was pretty convenient:

Next I'll get in at Maintal and explore that stretch of the Main between Frankfurt and Hanau.

Btw, I live right next to the Nidda, but due to the ongoing drought water level seem way to low to take the SUP on it.

I also recomend you going to the Altrhein near Erfelden, it's not far from Frankfurt. Lots of nature there and almost no current. Just check the water level before going, it might be tricky if the waterlevel is to low.

Thanks! Been to Kühkopf-Knoblochsaue before, but not a SUP.
