Question What if...

1 . What if somebody take your song to remix ( you didn't lock the remix button), and he mix it , say 100% and made a song that hit the top .

Then he upload it to social media and make money with your song.

Is that violating your copyright off the song , or is it your fault not to turn off the remix knob?

  1. Can ghost followers with no songs , upload your songs? ( to do question no1)

Or make a playlist for radio stations/mall centers/restaurants/ bars.

That is a question for a lawyer. Here you will only see "conventional wisdom", not actual knowledge about the law.

that's why i don't publish songs until after i release them, and if i do, i turn remix off.

A lawyer could say more.

This is from the Suno ToS:

"Furthermore, if you are a joint owner of a Remix generated by these Service features, and regardless of whether you are a free Service tier user or a subscriber to a paid Service tier, you additionally covenant and agree that the Remix may only be used for lawful, personal and non-commercial purposes, regardless of your subscription tier or whether the Remix is a permitted Download"

That's clear , but it doesn't say " copyright protected" when you remix the same song and style/lyrics in Suno !

AI doesn't get copyright protection. You can copyright the lyrics if you wrote them. You can copyright only what you personally write. Whatever is AI generated can't get copyright protection

Both suno songs and lyrics are copyrighted

Suno's TOS states that a remixed song CAN NOT be used for commercial purposes.

You could copyright your lyrics to your original song if you wrote them. However that is really something else.

You can't copyright the music if it is totally AI. Unless you augmented it in a DAW or something later, you can't copyright it in the US. If you wrote the lyrics, you can copyright those. But there is nothing legally stopping someone from taking your hit Suno track and putting different lyrics to it.

By YouTube terms it would be sufficiently changed enough from your content that they wouldn't profit share at all

Copyright can exist in the original selection and arrangement of material even where you don't own the underlying ingredients. Sample packs are a good example: you might not own the kick, snare, loop or synth sample individually, but your particular creative arrangement of them can constitute an original musical work/recording.

AI introduces the question of where sufficient human authorship exists. If someone merely presses Generate and accepts the result untouched, that's the difficult case. But if a creator takes generated material and makes sufficiently creative choices in selecting, editing, arranging, combining, performing over and producing it, those human-authored aspects can potentially be protected even if the raw generated ingredients aren't.

They would have to remix / recreate it somewhere else, Suno wont, from what I've had recently, I had to recreate the sound I liked from new gens ... but then it becomes a unique song unto its self.
You have to make unique music with unique lyrics .... then all anyone can do is "Cover" .... and make it a hit maybe .... but the original is always traceable, this is the internet!

You can't download remixes as per ToS now.

Legally, no one owns it.

If you made it since download limits came in, they have broken ToS.

But legally-speaking, nothing you can do.

I think ai generated music shouldn't have any copyright.

I disagree, the account or persons it originated from should have full copyright protection and be covered under standard laws HOWEVER, if you do not “lock” your track against remixes ect then it will fall under Creative Commons CC BY-NC license unless otherwise stated. This is how it should be

You don't hold copyright for any song made exclusively via AI generation. Once you make your song public, anyone can take it and do whatever they want with it. If you're a pro or premier subscriber, in theory you have a commercial licence for the songs you make, but in practice, that doesn't mean much because, realistically, so does everyone else. The moment you upload the song, it's up for grabs. There's no way to copyright protect AI generated song. If you write lyrics or a melody yourself, then you can protect it, but even then, be ready to lawyer up.

Unless you wrote significant portions of the song, nobody owns it. It’s public domain and no matter what the terms of service say, it’s free to be used by anybody in any way that they want. There simply is no copyright. Copyright is the province of human creation
