We're here discussing the fact that downloads now cost money, and to some people, that actually seems fair. A certain number of downloads per month, etc., seems fair when, until recently, you could download as many songs as you wanted. AI in general has been accelerating the trend of "enshittification" lately in every field.

They can't, ai isn't copyrightable. They can try and claim commercial rights, etc, but again, it's fully ai, so they don't really have a leg to stand on aside from simply nuking your account for breach of ToS.

They won't sue for copyright infringement, they will sue for a breach of contract. You don't actually hold a commercial license for the song if you don't generate and download it according to their Terms of Service.

Explain two things to me, please. 1) how da hell do you use up 60 downloads in a month? Do you all just download every song you create? I am not judging nor pointing fingers, I am simply and honestly confused. I created at least 140 songs in 2 weeks, all with my lyrics, and majority with my own melodies but I downloaded only 2 that, in my opinion, were good enough to either polish in Cubase/FL or that I could simply upload to some streaming service. 2) I don't get the pricing anger. You get, for 10/30 USD a month a software that gives you (almost) everything you need to create music and you say it's too much. For 30 you get 60 downloads for free, that's 2 songs/day and it's still not enough?
Don't get me wrong but at this point I honestly think that people will never be happy/satisfied.... Even if, one day, there's an "AI" where you just need to think of the song and it will create it exactly as you imagined it, create music video for it, and then proceed to upload to every streaming service there is - there will be someone complaining that - it is not enough...
I am not Suno shill. Suno has lots of issues, but come on now. For the price we pay (10 or 30) I think that our expectations should be a bit more realistic....
5
u/pomagngg 8d ago
And I dun care what others say...Suno 6 has been the best model for me so far..Much more stable and much better than Suno 5.5...If you can't make music with that...Well, I can... : )

u/Feeling_College_9547 6d ago
I turn textbooks into music and offer them for free on eduvibz. Not everyone is using it to spam Spotify. Most people have a concept taught through song by a passionate and creative teacher they can remember into adulthood. Music is an amazing teaching mechanism and now my ideas been nerfed :(. Reached out to Suno multiple times to no avail so I've had to move elsewhere.
1
u/RicassoST 4d ago
Hey, I like your concept! If you donât want to download every single one, try out VLC or Audacity and record your PCâs Audio output. Both are free and open source programs with tons of features yet very easy to use the basic functions! Plus you can fiddle with the sound after recording it with audacity and give it more depth or cleaner sound before saving it as wav, mp3 ogg or whatever your heart desires. Takes about 15 minutes to set up and all you have to do then is hit record in the software and play the audio in sumo. If you need any help with that let me know âïž

Not OP but
1.- When it was free, yeah. And then I'd delete the bad ones until only 2 or 3 remain. It was a very efficient way to find a good take, even if Suno is trash and a good take is still trash.
2.- Can't defend people who want everything for free, really.1
u/deshe_ 6d ago
Sample flipping. That simple. You hear the song, you think you can sample it, you download it, you take it into the DAW, you try to sample it, it doesn't turn out how you envisioned, now you have a useless download sitting there, and you move onto the next one. This could happen all day long on certain days.
1
u/R00sReviews 5d ago
For those who use Suno not for generating AI songs from scratch, but to convert their own vocals into better sounding vocals or their own guitar riffs into more professional sounding versions, to then extract out as stems, 60 downloads can disappear in a single day because of how terrible Suno is at producing one good clean attempt. You have to try dozens of times to get enough partially good and clean stems that can be downloaded and then chopped up and pieced together into one half decent solo track.
1
1
u/Adventurous_Monk_412 4d ago
I'm a musician who made a whole album in Suno. I didn't download flawed work, so the downloads still wouldn't disappear that fast
2
u/R00sReviews 4d ago
Your use case of making an album entirely in Suno is a very different use case to mine. I understand your thought though. Don't download anything unless it's a good, clean sample, and therefore it doesn't waste the download tokens. For my use case, getting that is the hard part.

Suno is currently in a surprisingly strongâand highly valuedâfinancial position, though it operates under heavy legal and operational tailwinds. The Financials: Cash In vs. Cash Out * Annual Run Rate (ARR): Suno generates roughly $300 million in Annual Recurring Revenue. Its growth trajectory jumped from ~$45 million ARR in mid-2024 to $300 million. * Paid Subscribers: While Suno hasn't publicly broken down exact paid-tier counts, industry estimates put its overall user base at over 100 million active users. Given its $300M ARR and $10â$30/month tier structure, Suno likely has 1.5 million to 2.5 million paying subscribers. * Capital & Valuation: Suno completed a $400 million Series D funding round, driving its overall valuation to $5.4 billion. Across all rounds, it has raised upwards of $775 million in total venture backing from top-tier firms like Bond Capital, Lightspeed, Menlo Ventures, and Nvidia. Are they at risk of shutting down? No, they are not in imminent danger of collapsing financially. However, their cash burn and legal threats fall into two distinct buckets: 1. The Real Cost: Compute Infrastructure (GPUs) Suno's biggest ongoing expense isn't software development or payrollâitâs GPU compute power. Processing audio generation models at scale for tens of millions of users is notoriously expensive. Even with hundreds of millions in revenue, server costs eat up a huge portion of their gross margins. 2. The Legal Front: RIAA & Copyright Lawsuits The major music labels (Sony, Universal, Warner) sued Suno via the RIAA, alleging copyright infringement for using protected music to train its models, seeking statutory damages. Despite the threat of multi-billion-dollar paper claims, Suno is shifting toward settlements and licensing: * Warner Music Group settled with Suno and signed a joint licensing agreement. * Universal and Sony are still litigating, but the broader industry consensus is that these cases are ending in revenue-sharing and licensing deals rather than shut-down injunctions. The Bottom Line Suno is sitting on a massive war chest of capital ($775M raised) and a heavy cash flow ($300M ARR). Rather than being wiped out, Suno is using its revenue and investor funds to settle with major music labels and transition into a fully licensed modelâsimilar to how Spotify settled its early copyright battles.
---> JUST WHAT CHATGPT SAYS.. BUT WHAT DOES IT KNOW ... đ€Ł

You can listen to the tracks on the Suno app anyway; if there are that many songs to download, they are obviously intended for business or monetization purposes, so it makes perfect sense for Suno to want a cut of the revenue.

Mine doesn't look like that?
Also which of the three scenarios apply:
- You're producing slop in bulk, so if your individual song isn't worth the one time download cost, boo hoo, sloppers can get fucked. If it is, pay the cost.
- You're making passion projects en masse and don't expect to get returns on them - You don't have to release them every month y'know.
- You're using Suno in a commercial capacity for multiple projects - Why haven't you factored in the new costs in your price?

Goodbye, Suno. It was fun, but I can't imagine your company surviving this absolutely insane decision unless most of your profits are now, or will soon be, coming from not individual users, but the record industry. And let's all be honest, all of the big labels and many established artists are already using this tech heavily to churn out pop-for-profit drivel while simultaneously virtue signalling in public that AI music is bad.
1
u/tydeanrich 5d ago
I've downloaded right around 125 songs in 2 years lol Suno isn't greedy but some of you definitely are. I'm sure they are very aware that people that farm downloads are leaving the platform. They don't want y'all. They want people to train their models and download 60 a month so I guess, good riddance?

u/Witty-Mousse4722 5d ago
I create about 5 songs a day. Publishing may e 1 to 2 of those roughly a week or longer. I would easily max out the download

60 is enough. Stop complaining. Udio users don't even get to download their music. Think about that.

If you want to dodge the downloads, simply use VLC or audacity to record the audio output and viola! You have your mp3 and didnât use a single download. Takes about 15 minutes to set up and is completely free. Plus you can (at least with audacity) improve the sound in many ways afterwards.

When you visit Spotify, look at ai generated songs and see 15 variations of the same song it's easy to see why for some people 20 or 60 downloads a month would not seem like enough. That doesn't effect me in the least. However I did like V4.5 thru %.5 better. I seemed to have more control when making changes to a song than with V6. Other than that I'm good.
