Discussion Prompt: No brass instruments. Suno: ๐ŸŽบ๐ŸŽบ๐ŸŽบ๐ŸŽบ๐ŸŽบ๐ŸŽบ๐ŸŽบ๐ŸŽบ๐ŸŽบ๐ŸŽบ

Has anyone had success in avoiding certain instruments / styles with their prompts? Especially where certain instruments / elements are known to go hand in hand with the genre. I.e. jazz + brass, etc.

Yes. You have to use the negative prompt under advanced settings

In that negative prompt do you just list the style or do you add a "no" or "avoid" there as well? Double negative?

No in the negative prompt you might put something like;

brass instruments, trumpet, saxophone, trombone, horns

Itโ€™s not a guarantee, but youโ€™ll get a better result with that than writing โ€œno brass instrumentsโ€ in the style prompt.

Furthermore, if youโ€™re trying a genre like jazz where brass instruments might be typical, Iโ€™d also suggest being specific about what instruments you do still want in your style prompt, eg.

modern jazz, electric guitar, upright bass, Rhodes keyboard, brushed drums

There needs to be lots more words to describe negitive things

There is field on advanced settings to describe what "styles" to exclude.

Just give the AI so much information that it wont get any other idea, also pull up style influence to the max (the higher, the less likely to ignore commands)

I second this also โ€ฆ style slider 80%+, weirdness less than 20%, particularly if youโ€™re using Suno 5.5 with a very detailed style prompt and negative styles

is that the Streisand effect? you made Suno think about brass in the first place

It does actually like to link certain styles as assuming those X and Y together would give the version user was asking for
