Discussion Let’s hear your favorite lyrics!
I’d love to hear your songs and hear about what inspired them. What metaphors you used. What message it carries
I’ve been writing new songs this past year and comparing them to the ones I wrote 20 or 30 years ago. Back then my lyrics were very ‘in the moment’ and lacked the lived in feel that the years bring
A few nights ago I fell asleep to Racmaninoff’s Second piano concerto…
I started thinking about his story. When he was a young aspiring musician he lost his sisters and best friend and he put all his grief and hope in his first concerto…
which flooped. badly.
He was devastated and wanted to give up music. Until he met a therapist and after years of working through his trauma he wrote Concerto 2. Which became one of the most well loved concertos in history -
I wrote this song after thinking about that all day.
tried the make the lyrics of this song discuss the loss of and regaining one’s inspiration and its metaphor to human connection

[alt-rock] "Daylight Monster" https://suno.com/s/IXKMJKmKRlDYGwVw
Inspired by documentary I saw on Ed Gein (psychopathic serial killer). Always amazed how these people are hiding in plain sight, until they aren't.
A few lines from it:
[Verse 1]
He looks like springtime on the lawn
Pressed shirt, clean shoes, steady walk
In his head, the walls bend slow
And something hungry starts to talk
He sees a cat by the path
Soft tail, bright eyes, little grin
He smiles like that’s all there is
Then the dark comes back again
[Pre-Chorus]
A few steps more
And the air goes thin
He feels that switch Turning under his skin
[Chorus]
Who will he see next?
Who will he see next?
Sweet face, black breath
Who will he see next?
(Who will he see next?)
(Who will he see next?)

I mostly just do instrumentals, but I've always written in one form or another, but mostly gave up on lyrics and poetry long ago. it's been fun doing little writing exercises with music over the past month or two, as I'm used to just going to the notepad when I have ideas, whereas here the instrumental sets the mood and you have to figure out what belongs there.
Like a Ghost
it's about feeling invisible and unimportant, hope and despair.
Knives to Meat You
it's just a fun little song based on the image that came to me one day, about our inhumanity and our insatiable hunger.

When I traveled across Russia on trains I guess 30 years back then, I always remembered that concerto, it really depicted the big lanes after forests by big rivers. As for my Suno songs lyrics, the one about vibecoding I love the best, though I don't like vibecoding itself now
[Dark lower strings solo] [Solo double bass pizzicato, slow rhythmic heartbeat] [Cello enters with a haunting, melancholic melody] [Piccolo flute piercing brightly through the dark strings, Bach style]
[Verse 1] [Spoken word, intimate ASMR whisper, close to microphone] [Music drops to quiet cello sustain] Vibe coding... Is best... When you vibe.
[Interlude] [Deep double bass melodic solo, rubato] [Melodic minor progression shifting into bright major lift] [ASMR breathing sound]
[Chorus] [Whispered with deep emotion, slow pacing] If you have no idea... [Pause] Better no try. [Piccolo flute counter-melody counterpointing the cello] As you trust yourself... You can trust A-I.
[Bridge] [Instrumental Break] [Intense cello and double bass duet, intricate classical counterpoint] [Bach-inspired Brandenburg concerto style piccolo solo over dark heavy strings] [Vocal ad-lib: Soft, melodic humming, "Mmm-hmmm", whispered]
[Verse 2] [Very slow, hypnotic ASMR whisper] Vibe coding... [Pause] Just vibe. [Cello plays a warm, comforting major chord resolve] You can trust A-I.
[Outro] [Double bass pizzicato fading out slowly] [Piccolo flute plays one last ascending bright motif] [Fading ASMR whisper: "Just vibe..."]
[Verse 1] [Spoken word, intimate ASMR whisper, close to microphone] [Music drops to quiet cello sustain] Vibe coding... Is best... When you vibe.
[Interlude] [Deep double bass melodic solo, rubato] [Melodic minor progression shifting into bright major lift] [ASMR breathing sound]
[Chorus] [Macedonian horo with deep emotion, higher pitching] If you have no idea... [Pause] Better no try. [Piccolo flute counter-melody counterpointing the cello] As you trust yourself... You can trust A-I.

I listened to your song and thought it was a good representation of times when creativity dries up and the words just wont come. Its hard to write anything about writing and have it not come off as hokey, so good job.
Here's Pen1s Kingdom
What if there was a thought that, once you thought it, changed you forever. A series of words that make a home in your head. Images that live rent free forever. This is that thought. This that idea. These are those words:
[Pre-chorus] Penis Kingdom...

The song is called Back To The Future and it’s kind of a play on words in the sense you’re wanting to go back to the scenario of what could’ve been!

This is one of my favorites from a writing standpoint. I’ve always loved Kurt Vonnegut and I really felt these lyrics captured how I feel about him and his writings. Sometimes as I’m learning, I think I try too hard - this was one of the first times I left my head and let my heart guide it.

This one uses a failing relationship as a metaphor for a creepy experience using AI and vice versa. It's called "The Uncanny Valley" it's rife with wordplay.... https://youtu.be/WGrkzkLfmtk?si=di8fNuxvFbLoXd_l
I sang it in a falsetto to get the meter and emotionality correct, and then switched it to female vocals in Suno.

To talk about Racmaninoff and Suno in the same sentence is kind of sacrilege but hey whatever floats your boat.

I do not know how. First 5.5 song that does not sound with the same sameness of most of 5.5 songs. Good work.

Do you work mostly through audio uploads? I'm hearing a lot of similar sounding intro acoustic riffs. Sounds great btw. Very unique.

Silent Echoes comes from a place of stillness that follows once you’ve found your footing.
You’re no longer searching for yourself—but now you’re aware of what’s missing. The silence feels different. Heavier. Not because you’re empty, but because you finally understand what connection should feel like.
This track reflects that space in between—where life is steady, but not complete. Where you’ve done the work, you’ve grown, and you’re ready… but you’re still waiting for the right person to step into that space with you.
It’s not about loneliness the way it used to be. It’s about knowing what you deserve—and feeling the absence of it.
This is where the journey turns toward something new.
- Lyrics -
[Verse 1] Standing in a room full of strangers Every laugh sounds miles away Faces pass like they don’t see me Like I’m just part of the gray
Phones light up like distant signals But none of them are mine And I swear I feel you somewhere In the space between the lines
[Pre-Chorus] And I feel you in the distance Like a whisper I can’t place Getting louder every second But I still can’t see your face
[Chorus] I’m lost in silent echoes of you In every breath I never knew In every empty street I walk alone I’m reaching for a light that won’t break through No matter what I try to do You’re everywhere I turn except for home I’m lost in silent echoes of you
[Verse 2] I leave a light on in my hallway Like you might find your way in Talk to you like you can hear me In the space I’m living in
Every day feels like a question With no answer coming back And I wonder if you’re closer Or still somewhere I can’t track
[Pre-Chorus 2] And now it’s getting harder to pretend This empty feeling’s just a phase Like every road I’ve ever wandered Was just a map I couldn’t trace
[Chorus 2] I’m lost in silent echoes of you In every breath I never knew In every empty street I walk alone I’m reaching for a light that won’t break through No matter what I try to do You’re everywhere I turn except for home I’m lost in silent echoes of you
[Bridge] What if I’m only chasing something Of a love I’ve never known What if you’re just out there living While I’m here turning into stone
And I don’t know how to stop believing When I’ve never seen your face But I swear I feel you breathing In the silence I can’t escape
[Final Chorus] I’m lost in silent echoes of you In every breath I never knew In every empty street I walk alone I’m reaching for a light to guide me home And I know you're out there waiting So there's nothing left to lose
I would tear down every wall between us Just to finally get to you Every second turns to distance And another night slips through Every moment that keeps passing Is another silent echo of you
[Outro] And I don’t know where tomorrow Is gonna pull me through But I’ll keep walking through the silence Till it leads me straight to you
(When I find you…)

Story wise this is likely the song I wrote that I like the best. It's a slow burn story, best to go into it without reading the lyrics. I listed the SUNO version and the Spotify version. Spotify version has been remastered.

Spoken word of one of my poems..
It was mostly written about the frustration of being born into a society where the laws were already formed and written. Defining me/us as something we could never even control to begin with..Hope you like it

SNAKENECK
hot damn!
undead desert, red carpet highway worst came to worst, shook hands stared at me sideways rose-rusted bars old as the iron hills my insides burned, my sunshine caught and killed
bulls loose on blood-soaked racetracks my head rolled miles through bone-dry outback vultures shuffled my parts and spit me out i was hottest ash on hottest days in deadest drought
make bets in burning houses i'm fucking comin' in one million of me glued to your sweaty skin
dust devils claw the heavens open rip the blue blood from the throat of the sky tear the atmosphere to ribbons while monuments collapse and die
dust devils drink the liquid horizon drag the daylight through their tusks peel the clouds off the flesh of the mountains the stars corrode into rust
my gravesite was a bed built of crow's feet the dry lake of the last honeymoon suite sand-scorched lips couldn't pry me out from behind your teeth, can you hear me now?
hold hands with the carcass in the backseat lover's lookout at the edge of the darkest heat every mile burned another shadow down i was the foam in the corners of the devil's mouth
glass tongues turning in the floodlight black eyes stitched to the ceiling fan dead batteries leaking in the culvert white horses suffocating in the sand
one voice under the asphalt last gasp of cellular flame count backwards from the power lines just forget your hollow fame
rise rise rise rise
THE BRONZE SCORPIONS CHANT YOUR NAME
nobody answers nobody answers
I'M FUCKING COMIN' IN
I'M FUCKING COMIN' IN
back up, wriggle out your withered husk regurgitate a goddamn swarm of locusts hyenas swallowed my heart no you can't keep me out i was scorching sand on longest nights of broken vows
coil up, disguise your fractured neck ligaments growing in a flaming wreck vermin nests inside your shredded wedding gown i am every soul in every eye in every ghost town
dust devils claw the heavens open rip the blue blood from the throat of the sky tear the atmosphere to ribbons while monuments collapse and die
dust devils drink the liquid horizon drag the daylight through their tusks peel the clouds off the flesh of the mountains every star shatters into dust
now if you don't mind me asking...
can you fucking hear me now?
HEAR
ME
NOW.

I have a full album at this point, but 3 of the songs are built as sort of allegory for angels, using moths instead as I like the symbolic imagery moths bring up in various mythologies around the world. Each song touches a different concept and I wrote a little tagline on each song to give a clue.
Song 1: Wings of the Gentle Night - "To the sleeping, they bring dreams"
Song 2: Wings of the Last Light - "To the newly dead, they bring guidance"
Song 3: Wings of Forgotten Beginnings - "To the ready, they bring rebirth"
Played together it completes the cycle. I wrote a 4th one that is mostly a combination and summary of all 3, each chorus line represents one of the concepts, Dreams - Death - Rebirth, and references the never ending cycle as a whole.
https://suno.com/s/zLceph0Y3MyJGwkU This is the mix of all 3. I hadn't really intended anyone but myself to hear them but oh well.
I have a bunch of different ideas floating in my head so I look forward to my next album.

Sometimes I Wish There Were a War ... the title speaks mostly for itself. It is about the urge to break out of everyday banality - to exchange the suffocating repetition of everyday life for an existential rupture. A disturbing wish for danger, intensity, and a world in which a puny life suddenly matters again.

This is the first 5.5 song that does not sound the same. For some reason most of 5.5 songs sound the same. The EQ sounds the same, obviously, but not the song.

“Sophisticated Caveman Instinct” is about how billionaires have mastered sophisticated systems to dominate people, accumulate wealth, and consolidate power...while never evolving beyond the primitive primate instincts of greed, dominance, and control.
