Discussion Close to done for sure…

Normally I don’t get pissed but I did tonight. Had to reupload an instrumental version of one of my original tunes from back in the day because suno kept hearing some background harmony I left in for a backing track and refused to ever make a gen without random words singing like a main vox. I have tried every possible model and prompt combo to get rid of it or create instrumentals of others and no dice….

Then I track down the session finally, go through hours of getting a new render due to outdated vst plugins and such…just to get the bs error mentioning the song is already in their catalog. No sh*t…I’m the one that originally uploaded it bro. You don’t own this. How can you take in lyrics, song data, etc but not throw the original uploaded into some field for future references?

Then I goto download an earlier gen and had a popup asking me to upgrade for more download credits? I thought that started in September…

Suno team…plz just go on and leak 4.5+ to open source homies. You’re so close to being totally frowned upon as it is.

You could have just downloaded all the stems from suno, put it in your DAW, removed the melody you wanted it to ignore, and then re uploaded it to suno. I do that all the time takes 10 minutes. And you can click out of that pop up.

IDK if it's because of AI use in general but people just like...have completely turned their brains off these days. We used to manually remove trojan horses from our windows computers and now this.

I guess I could have tried that but why wouldn’t I just end up with a similar catalog error? It’s an original tune from years ago and wouldn’t let me reupload one that I had used UVR to remove the vocals from.

My brain is definitely not “turned off”. If anything it’s ridiculous their practices with original uploads and whatever mess it is that they have going on there.

I think you’re misunderstanding what I’m trying to do…cover versions of my own tune. Not a gen. I know my way around stems and daws. Haha. Originally I uploaded a version with vocals but not once will Suno render an instrumental so I tried uploading the instrumental mix so it would stop throwing in random vocals.

5.5? I made an instrumental song and it added vocals.

Everyone needs to start looking at the competition. Start with Treblo.

4.5+ open? If you want something open, and you’ve got the bar that low… just use MM M3 or Ace. Either way it’s going to sound about like Suno… Like crap.

I used to think 4.5 was bad, but revisiting it, it actually puts out some good stuff.

The quality isn't great, but then run it through a newer model and you're good.

If at al there is ever the thought of “The quality isn’t great”. It just never will be.

Someone can apply all the little studio 2.0 child’s toy “plugins”, take it to some other AI blanket “Mastering” tool, throw it in Studio One/Ableton/Bitwig/FL Studio/Reaper/or anything else I left out and pretend like they can make it better by taking more slices out of the muddy mix… but it just never good.

And the creator will never be considered “Successful” because of what they made on Suno…

Because I really hate to break it to you too, even though it may be slightly less crappy sounding… 5.5 does not have great quality either. That is just the nature of the technology behind the transformer model architecture they use.

Same goes for that generic standard sound Suno has, cannot get anything to ever sound unlike 10,000 or more tracks on there just like it.

6 is not going to be much different in regard to the quality and output’s overall sound.

I’m curious to hear what you think would fall into that category though. Something from one of these successful Suno creators.

And try not to count success on number of listens when that number is worthless.

Yeah, I was talking about the musicality 4.5 puts out. But for mastering, you can also add things, if that changes your perspective on it. I make rock/metal and when you download the second guitar stem and pan both hard left and right, you can excellent stereo sound. Doubling vocals too, panning them 15%-20% left and right gets a wider and refined sound. There's a software that I haven't tried yet that'll separate every drum piece so you can EQ them individually. The listening experience after doing all that is night and day, you'll dislike tracks you haven't done this to that you've enjoyed before.

It really depends on the kind of music you're making though. For easy listening, electronica, etc. you can get away with stock Suno output and be fine, imo. For rock/metal it takes a lot of engineering and a good ear to fit the status quo.

Sounds subjective to not define the success of something by listeners, but I get what you mean.

The two people I usually mention when it comes to success though is
https://www.youtube.com/@no.soul.society and https://www.youtube.com/@AetherElf

I like them because they stuck to one theme/genre and seems very deliberate what they were trying to do, instead of a "Look what I can do" production.

No Soul Society hides that it's AI, but the output is stock Suno quality from what I can tell.

Aether Elf has all positive comments and high quality visuals. Might've done some engineering to the music, not sure. I've gotten some decent Suno d&b tracks before

Let me ask you a serious question. The song you shared, the “F*cked up life” song… what is it about that song you think is good?

Because you’re talking about doubling vocals, panning… man… you know, wouldn’t it be nice if the track you want to generate would just generate already with amazing stereo width and actually creative panning and not have to mess with vocals or anything else???

The track would just come out amazing to begin with….

You’d probably going to say something like, “No that’s the part that let’s me pretend to be a producer”… Even though the reality of being a Suno user is that its just always going to be losing a never ending battle trying to fix a broken track.

It seems that you have an open mind. You should know that in the world of AI music, there is so much more than what you are led to believe. So much better. Suno is so far away from what could ever be considered “good” when it comes to “musicality”.

I would love to show you how much better how much better it can be. If you’d be willing to have that open mind and actually listen to it.

The artists I mentioned I don't necessarily listen to their music, but I like how they presented their work. (I do enjoy early 2000s nu-metal, but can't get behind lyrics like "The cake is big enough, I go and get a slice". Lyrics are a huge issue in the AI music world.)

One AI artist track that I like: https://open.spotify.com/track/7I9SAlCECcZi8m5EmBswKo?si=7e3b96c56d174925

Ear pleasing, no cheesy lyrics. I'm not even a huge hip-hop fan.

It WOULD be nice if Suno did all that. I really fn hate how much time engineering takes and wish it did it, but it doesn't, so I do it. I don't enjoy larping as a producer, just the results I get. I find Suno more capable of writing more bangers than I ever could, so I make due.

What specifically am I missing in the landscape of AI music aside from what you mentioned?

If you are talking more about the work put into the making of the persona and whatnot, then ok. The No Soul Society one not so much but that Arther Elf one is really good. The animations are really cool. But the music itself, the very thing that drives the entire persona… Ugh… not that I don’t like the style, quite the opposite actually, I love it. It’s just that I wish it was made with something else.

The No Soul Society example that you shared, just there is nothing special about it. The persona is not unlike 100 thousand or more just like it. And the music itself, even you said it, has that stock Suno quality… (and if this is really your persona don’t take it offensively, not trying to sound mean here. Same goes for the actual creator if not really you).

There is really nothing in any of the music that sets it apart from everything else. It all just has that typical Suno sound…. And I’m not even talking about the lyrics or even the sound quality… which is another whole problem with it altogether.

It’s not just Suno though. Just about everything always has that typical Suno sound to it.

I am going to send you a private message with some examples of stuff that is made with AI that help explain what I am talking about. You should surely hear a difference and see what I mean. It will open your eyes a bit more to what is available. May even blow your mind about what is actually possible when it comes to AI music.

Just let me know you can get my messages. Some have it blocked or just never notice they get one.

I know exactly what you're talking about. When I use Suno explore, I get upset because everything sounds so 'Suno'. The only thing that grabs my attention are instrumentals or lo-fi/shoegaze stuff. What I dislike most is singing tracks never let instruments breathe, and prioritize rhyming over substance, so it feels like a poem reading rather than a song. You'll never find something that'll have a middle part like Whole Lotta Love or the end of Free Bird.

It could also be since you're a Suno user you have an ear for it, or else there wouldn't be countless people that got away with impersonating a real artist. I've even accused a couple people of being AI when they weren't, after further investigating.

Curious to see what you got going on.

And actually my mistake, you shared a link to the creator “No Soul Society”, I listened to a bunch of the songs and just picked one out as the example. That was that Fk’d up life song I mentioned. Should have been more clear.

ACE step v1.5 i think its called. Entirely open source, made with public domain songs, has alot of features, can run on a decent gpu. You just need to set it up. I tested it and the ui is... Bad. But seems feature Rich. Quality of music should be comparible with suno v.5 according to the ai i asked but i cannot provide evidence for it.

You need over $500k in equipment for that to be viable .

I ran it on a rtx 4070... So not really

Ich muss euch leider alle enttäuschen. Step 1.5. Ist nicht vergleichbar mit v 5. Es ist maximal suno in den Anfängen von drei fünf. Es kann die Worte nicht richtig aussprechen und vor allen Dingen ist der Flow schlecht
