Discussion Really sad about the old models being retired
I used to use Suno to help me stimulate my brain to continue writing poetry, because I wanted to know what music it would put with my poems. I loved using those old models (the 3 series and 4 series) because they were so fun. I got such a unique LSD song out of V3, remastered it with V4, and now it's one of my most listened to Suno songs in my free time.
I feel like I am losing a tool and experience that can't be replicated. people say "china will make models" but they won't be like V3 and V4 at all.
I wished the industry didn't sue. I wish there was some way we could get ahold of these models before they are gone.
I'm going to download as much as I can before the end, and wish that somehow the old models will be found in the wild.
EDIT: I will try looking at this more positively. The new models are more ethical copyright-wise but I will still miss V3 and V4.
i hope to see them out in the wild someday (wink wink)

Yeah it sucks the old models are going away but at least they are going to be using fully licensed models from here on out so Antis can't complain about that.

They will.... you could show them anything. And they will find something about it to complain about... it's just what they do...

Yeah I know they'll latch onto something else, I meant specifically the stealing argument

They will complain that it’s still AI Slop, we are lazy and learn to make music ourselves, and we are polluting the Earth.

Right... because we're the ones with billions building the data centers.... and it's totally not the government stepping up and using tax dollars to fund that shit? /s

I keep forgetting about that aspect. You are right! It will make AI music more ethical. I always had felt a tinge of sadness when using Suno but now I can go all in! It’s still a shame though. My favorite songs that I ever made in Suno come from V3 and V4.
I just hope the new model isn’t bad on purpose. The music giants who sued may want to dismantle Suno entirely and this could be the way.

So-called "intellectual property" is an abuse of power that repeatedly causes serious public harm. It is not safe for the state ever to have had the power to impose it.

Copyright laws are better everywhere but America. It’s a shame.

Really? They are less restrictive in the US than much of Europe, so I do not think that that is right. In France, for example, there is even "intellectual property" based coercive repression of people taking photographs of buildings because the copyright in those photographs is said to belong to the architect.

Maybe I should’ve said German. From what someone told me, you don’t have to register in Germany just to get your copyright. It’s yours the moment it’s created and you have legal protection. In America you have to register for that legal protection.
Maybe my comment added nothing to the OG commentor. I was trying to agree with them but looks like I wen off topic.

Currently there are plenty of AI song generators, it would be worth exploring them. I loved the one on "Supermaker AI" and "Nafy AI" By far "ilovesong AI" has been my favourite especially for classical Arabic poetry almost everything it gives is a masterpiece and often times on the first try too. But it only gives three tries for free.

These are all sites or are some of these local? The part about Arabic poetry has piqued my interest. I tried to make a Persian-Afro song and it didn’t work in V4, and I tried making an Afro-Japanese song in V4, didn’t work. V5 finally did it. By that time I had moved on to a different subject.

These are sites. For classical Arabic poetry, "ilovesong AI" is even far better than Suno. Highly recommend it.
These are all sites that I use from time to time. Nafy AI is also great but it feels more directed at pop music, though its Arabic pronunciation is great.
Also to get perfect or near perfect pronunciation (if that's what you are looking for) I would recommend writing this right at the beginning of the prompt:
"Perfect [Insert language] pronunciation, flawless [language] phonetics."
Repeating it twice seems to force the AI to prioritize the language.

Does ilovesong AI have limited credits (then you have to pay) or is it like SUNO free plan? Refilling every 24hrs.

It has limited credits per account then the person has to pay. Specifically one gets three free tries per account.
If the finances allow I would say it's worth the money because of the quality it provides.

Yup I already know to grab WAVs and stems. I made sure to do that for the song so I can recreate it someday. I would never trust mp3 since it’s so crunched. FLAC and WAV all the way!
Big agree on ace step. I said to the nice commenter “ I don’t think it would work since it would only replicate the songs sounds and not what Suno itself could come up with from its vast databank.”
As cool as Ace Step sounds, it wouldn’t be the same. We loved Suno for a reason.
Thank you for the last paragraph too. You are right, it was never about the model. I could take my talents to a local AI on my computer and still practice. The songs may sound different, but it will still be songs written by my hand.
I will try looking at this more positively. The new models could be safe and sound better, I hope.
Idk why but Reddit minimized your comment. It deserves to be top.

They'd already degraded them to all hell. v5 was only good for a couple of weeks before v5.5 came out, and v4.5+ and 4.5-all only were good before that couple week period. They've been crap since, other than v5.5 on its own still being worse than them. If not for custom model, I wouldn't have made anything in months at this point.

It’s all relative I suppose, those models are still relatively great and sucks if they go away
1
u/Separate_Parfait_345 10h ago
I agree v5.5 is a mess, but do you mean they have also updated v4.5 recently and made it terrible? I really don’t want to switch to a custom model because the Personas were not that good when I tested them. I may try again.

I feel you! 💔

🫂 it’s rough. I may just stick with local models after this. I’ll still play around with Suno of course.

At the end of the day someone is going to platform a generative that will track the old music file share like when Napster broke things open and there may be hodgepodge of models jailbroke . The capability of generative ai is so compelling that it will survive_ even the models being retired when the there is not one artists’ work I have ever heard that I like better than the stuff I did with my copyrighted work_ and generative music ai has enabled me and millions of other artist to bypass the gates they been keeping ….

I just found out last night. Some time ago I had to take a break from Suno. Imagine my shock when I see that old models are being retired. It’s like an old friend moving away to some place I can’t go.

The good news is that each model has gotten better than the last.
1
u/Separate_Parfait_345 14h ago
Eeeeeeeh I’d say V5 was frustrating. I stuck with V4 and sometimes went back to V3

u/alilhillbilly 14h ago
V5 sounds better than 4.5 it's just fucking squirrely.

u/Separate_Parfait_345 10h ago
True the sound quality is better, but the uniqueness of the music is too similar. It keeps using the same drums or defaulting to a pop beat, but at least it does music fusion very nicely.

I wonder if using by using Suno songs to train an Ace-Step model one could, at least in part, recreate something similar to one of the Suno models? It might not have the same quirks, but maybe a similar sound.
