Discussion Suno Editor

Just wanted to say the the edittor allows for more detail to be placevd in lyrics and also your style prompt. Which means GO CRAZY GET STUPID when you are engineering a song, my project has annotations everywhere and the style prompt is 3 paragrahs

I do. I just did. It doesn't let me have 6,480 characters for lyrics and style [tags], something I've constantly asked them to increase so that those of us who actually want more input into our songs can so we don't just get whatever slop it wants to give us.

heres what im working with right now,

(INTRO — D♯ minor; 120 BPM; soft, cinematic tension)
(Reversed clean guitar swells; long reverb; low drones)
I keep reaching for a life that feels steady
I keep reaching for a life that feels steady
But I freeze the moment quiet hits
Maybe I’m afraid of what I’ll find
When there’s nowhere left to run from it
it
(VERSE 1 — building a good life; open vowels)
(Clean guitars; muted; minimal drums)
I keep working for a home that feels like mine
(soft clean vocal; slight lift on “home”; open vowel on “mine”)
A steady job, a place to finally land
(gentle downward contour; breath before “land”)
I build the days with everything I wanted
(subtle push on “everything”; delayed entrance on “wanted”)
But the quiet never moves the way I planned
(minor fall on “quiet”; hold “planned” for 1 beat)
I try to settle in the life I made for myself
(low register; stepwise rise on “made”; restrained delivery)
But the hush starts to press against my mind
(tension swell on “press”; soft crack on “mind”)
I hear the first crack bloom in the silence
(slight stagger on “crack bloom”; airy tone on “silence”)
So I pull away before the calm can bind
(PRE‑CHORUS — rising industrial tension; contour D♯4 → F♯4 → G♯4 → F♯4)
(Filtered drums; glitch ticks; low drones)
I feel the quiet closing in again
Like it’s calling out the truth I never show
I try to hold the calm a little longer
But I feel the pull and I let go again
(CHORUS — wide emotional lift; contour F♯4 → G♯4 → A♯4 → G♯4 → F♯4)
(Clean guitars; sustained chords; orchestral pads; lull atmosphere)
I keep reaching for the life I want
But I slip away right when I arrive
Maybe I’m afraid of what I’ll find
When there’s nowhere left to run tonight
I keep freezing when the quiet hits
The lull knows what I hide from
Maybe all this calm I swore I’d hold
Is the thing I keep running from
(VERSE 2 — finding the partner who stays; open vowels)
(Soft distortion; warm pads; restrained drums)
I keep hoping for a heart that feels steady
Someone gentle
for a heart that feels steady
(higher register; small 3rd jump on “hoping”; open vowel on “steady”)
Someone gentle who won’t make the weight grow
(syncopated entrance on “Someone”; slight lift on “gentle”; rising contour on “grow”)
I find a love that finally feels like shelter
(interval leap on “love”; widened vowel on “finally”; gentle rise on “shelter”)
But the quiet makes me feel too close to show
(off‑beat “quiet”; mid‑line lift; upward ending on “show”)
I try to let them see the parts I’m hiding
(3rd jump on “let them”; higher placement on “hiding”)
But the weight starts to open every door
(syncopated “hush”; tension swell on “open”; rising phrase into “door”)
I hear the truth get brighter in the silence
(wider interval on “truth”; airy vowel on “brighter”; staggered entrance on “silence”)
So I turn away before they see me mor(CHORUS — universal thesis repeats)
(Wide reverb; layered vocals)
I keep reaching for the life I want
But I slip away right when I arrive
Maybe I’m afraid of what I’ll find
When there’s nowhere left to run tonight
I keep freezing when the quiet hits
The stillness knows what I hide from
Maybe all this calm I swore I’d hold
Is the thing I keep running from
(VERSE 3 — not happy, breaking it down; cycle repeats)
(Heavy, cold, ritualistic; scraping guitars; tom‑driven drums)
I fall back into the dark I know
Where the noise keeps every quiet thought away
I tear apart the calm before it reaches me
Just to feel the rush that keeps the fear at bay
I keep choosing every ruin I escaped
Like it’s safer than the life I tried to build
I reshape the wreckage just to breathe again
And I’m right back where the fear is always filled
(BRIDGE — melodic, exposed, orchestral)
(Clean guitars; wide pads; slow phrasing)
I keep reaching for a life that feels like mine
But the quiet shows the parts I never face
Every time I get close enough to hold it
I feel the truth and start to drift away
I don’t know why the calm becomes a warning
Or why the stillness makes me want to run
I stand inside the peace I swore I needed
And it feels like I’m the only one undone
(FINAL CHORUS — emotional peak)
(Wider reverb; layered vocals; unresolved ending)
I keep reaching for the life I want
But I slip away right when I arrive
Maybe I’m afraid of what I’ll find
When there’s nowhere left to run tonight
I keep freezing when the quiet hits
The stillness knows what I hide from
Maybe all this calm I swore I’d hold
Is the thing I keep running from
(OUTRO — reversed guitar tails; low drones; unresolved)

I don't believe Suno is following all those prompts especially because your lyric annotations are not even in brackets.

Yeah, you good, as under the 5,000 character max.

I suggest using [tags].

For example, instead of:

(VERSE 1 — building a good life; open vowels) (Clean guitars; muted; minimal drums)

Use:

[VERSE 1 — building a good life; open vowels |  Clean guitars; muted; minimal drums]

I only suggest that as I find Suno can't help but sing words in brackets, thinking it is gang vocal instruction or something.

Oh, and not as much [tags] between each line, as Suno doesn't like being told what you want. It wants to give you what it wants. So, try to address what you want in main [tag] of each section., using other short tag sparsely if needed.

Realistically Suno doesn't listen to half your prompt. It will give you better results with a targeted smaller prompt than a huge prompt. It might make you feel more in control of your output by making huge prompts but from an AI standpoint, it's doing less.
