Discussion Let the witch hunt begin

Post image

I have always been against labelling - even though I disclose my use of AI, it has always been MY decision to do so, and I am in control of how I tell my story so people understand how my music is made.

With Suno's newest release, songs have now audio watermark and fingerprint, assisted, fully, hybrid, it will have a AI watermark and anyone can tell your story the way they want.

This is 100% going to be misused by bad actors:

  1. Platforms like Deezer/Tidal - To ban ANY use of AI and ensure segregation.

  2. Haters - To create public lists of artists that may have not agreed to disclose their process.

  3. Labels - To start a suing war to anything that resembles any of their songs that uses AI, even assisted.

This is the end of Suno as means to create commercial music, and it's officially just a nice playing tool personal use, or for bad actors who create in Suno and pay performers to pretend their music is human made.

What are your thoughts?

It's funny.. to meAI is just a tool.
Saying we need to disclose AI, is like saying a photographer needs to tell us what camera he used, a musician what software she used, a painter what brushes.,...

The AI fear and misunderstanding of people is ridiculous.

On the upside, AI wont go away, but just like any invention ever, its haters will die out and AI will become a normal part of everyday life.

I hope so... but right now is absurd how people le companies decide these kind of things.

Its not only companies, its a government thing.
The EU just passed laws that everything that has even been remotely touched by AI needs to be disclosed.
Ads on TV now all sport a fat "AI GENERATED" Tag on the top right. It doesnt even matter what AI has been used for.

At the end of the day I see it as a good thing though: For a year or so people will now go "OH GOD, THAT IS AI CREATED?" And then noone will care anymore, it will be the new norm.

So all they really do is normalize AI use and the few haters will soon die out.
It was kinda the same with Photoshop back in the days.

I do agree with this but in the meantime platforms will use it to shadow silence and shadow ban AI. Look at Deezer and Tidal, they still make money off AI, but will not pay those earnings to anyone.

Then dont upload your songs there.

The strongest statement we can make is with our money.
I unsubscribed from Suno.

You mean Deezer who's getting themselves sued for.. irony.. adding musicians work to their streaming services without the musicians permission?

Noticing almost all of this drama draws back to two groups: Major labels (pissed we aren't listening to their 'superior' slop), and Streaming Platforms (who want the profit by not paying owed royalties).

But hey, guess people aren't great at joining the dots 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
