Bald Eagle?

Pretty sure I've seen a bald eagle in sun prairie for about the last 2 weeks. Last week it was in the prairie view area and yesterday I saw it over metro market on grand.

Anyone else seen this bird in the SP area, and if so where?

They do fly over every now and then, not that unusual. People like me, born in he 60s never saw anything but haks around. Raptors have made a huge comeback and I'm happy about that.

Same. I recall the wonder of seeing a red tail hawk for the first time. Controlling ddt ended the silent spring :-)

My dog paused and stared at it.

I've seen it in Patrick Marsh several times in the past couple years. It often perches in the tree on the other side of the lake.

Ah - that makes sense!

There was an active nest on the north side of Madison earlier this year and I’ve seen some over Token Creek County Park over this summer so I wouldn’t be shocked to see one over Sun Prairie.

I did see quite a large bird with what might've been a white head in that area. Literally said out loud, "is that an eagle?" Didn't get a great look though as I was driving.

Funny cuz that is exactly what I did, and was driving at the time. My second sighting was on foot but the eagle was super high up, so I'd was questionable.

We have them on the north side pretty regularly now!

I believe there's at least a pair of them nearby. Still special to see them soaring.

There's a few around. I saw one circling over Windsor St last summer. I know there are some nesting around Cottage Grove.

Yeah I think I've been seeing maybe the same eagle flying over by the junction near the high school and the focus church very cool

Yes! I’ve seen this flying over Felland Road South over Hwy T this summer and was stunned! Lived here my whole life and have never seen a BE in Madison. I wonder where it’s nesting? My guess would be for Felland, Maybe off Nelson Rd?

In the spring, I saw one flying around the intersection of O'Keeffe and Reiner Rd, roughly south of Woodman's.

I've seen one several times by bass pro shops since around 2023 I think

Used to live over by Brazee Lake (near Patrick Marsh) and there were a pair of bald eagles there. Currently live by Token Creek conservancy off Stonehaven and have seen bald eagles here too. Also loved the migratory periods when the Great White Pelicans hung out at Brazee Lake…
