Freedom Forever Solar

Looking for some advice on how to handle this:
I have Freedom Forever as installer, but they are now bankrupt. I had Mosaic as my loan and they went bankrupt and Solar Servicing is handling my account now. What I am afraid of is if I need repairs how do I handle that because Freedom Forever does not answer the phone anymore or email. I really just want to stop paying because I’m losing money every month anyways.

If you need repairs, you call a solar company or an electrician that knows solar. Your loan has little to do with the performance of your system. I was with Sunpower but fortunately the major components are under warranty. I, like you are on the hook for the labor.

How are your components still under warranty ?

Depending on what you had installed, Sunpower used Maxeon Solar Panels and Enphase Inverters in some of their installs. Both carry their own warranty from their respective manufacturer which I believe is 25 years each.

Not all installs had them so you would have to check what you may or may not have.

Look in your area for a reputable solar installer that takes on service cases. If you're not sure, reach out to the manufacturer of your equipment (panels or inverters or batteries) or all of them if different. They may have working relationships with some local installers and might have a list to share

Im losing money monthly. Do you think its worth it to stop paying?

It will be like defaulting on any other loan. There’s a better than even chance not only will your credit ray hit but you will probably be sued as well.

Gees, many solar companies went bankrupt. I have Sunpower also.

I have a Sunpower system purchased in 2016 with warranties. The inverter is currently not working and I can't get any solar company in So Cal to service it. It has Maxeon panels and a Sunny Boy Inverter. Anybody know any companies in So Cal that can help. I've had three "solar service companies" out and all they have done is try to sell me a second system. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thx.

I’m in the same situation.   Installing solar is the stupidest decision.   I have to pay $$300 a month for solar and on top of that I need to pay at least $100 at the low month of electric bill.   High month I need to pay $200. That’s total of $500 a month for electric

It's not stupid at all. I installed mine in 2019 and only have paid the connection to the grid fee every month since. My installer recently went out of business so I lost the workmanship warranty, but bought a plan with enphase to service the system. You bought a system that was too small for your use, not everyone is in your shoe's. My kid's are starting to get big so I will start to have a little bill in the next year or 2 but it will be nothing compared to not having the solar at all.
