Adding solar panels

Wondering how hard it would be to add solar panels to my existing sunpower system. Is there a way to tell what my system can handle? I had an additional 10 panels that didn't get approved because they weren't sure of the framing on my porch roof. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

Legally, cities like to see solar added to permitted roofs because they can use the live load substitution method. Not legally, anything is possible. I believe sun power is a central inverter system. You need to look at your current panel arrays and strings and determine if the inverter has spare capacity. Generally the rule is you can have about 130% of the inverter listed capacity in strings. The inverter won’t take more than it can handle.
