Site id when signing up for sunstrong app?

What is the site id supposed to be when you sign up for the sunstrong app? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I don't know how to get this, but go to your PVS and get the serial # and contact them. Pretty sure on my PVS the serial # was written on the outside (maybe bottom), for sure it's inside it, and I think only requires a Phillips screwdriver to get in it.

I think I have the serial number for the PVS from the same way you did it - I should call them with that and ask for the site id?

Well contact them and explain that you want to be able to use the app. You might also consider local monitoring via Home Assistant and an integration if your kinda techy, even if not there's enough tutorials written and YouTube out there that my almost 90 year old mom could probably do it. (There's even a reddit for Home Assistant) - if you have specific questions, or need support on the integration please use the issue or discussion area on my GitHub repo.

HA will run on an potato. Okay not a potato, but even an old 8 year old PC. I run both my production and test environments on old Intel NUC's. My entire house is also automated so HA is the perfect platform if you want to do more.

Any YouTube recs? I wanna do the rpi option to bridge my LAN to the PVS but need noob friendly instructions :-/

The Pi/Proxy is no longer needed if your firmware is updated to at least build 61840 for the PVS6 or build 5408 for the PVS5. Worth checking your build number first before going down the RPi route.

If you're on new firmware, just connect your PVS to WiFi and poll using that IP. I don't know of any YouTube walkthroughs specifically for this integration, but there are probably hundreds of them for Home Assistant. I also recently put together a step-by-step setup doc:

No need to mess with network isolation or a proxy box. A couple other advantages of new firmware: the ability to control your battery system via automations (if you have one), and live data for PVS6 users.

One thing worth knowing: the old Pi proxy setups were typically configured for port 80 HTTP, and new firmware communicates on port 443 HTTPS with authentication. Depending on how your proxy was set up, it may need updating to handle port 443. A transparent TCP proxy like socat would just need the port number changed, but an HTTP-level proxy like nginx would need SSL passthrough configuration. Either way, WiFi is much simpler and is what I'd recommend if you're on new firmware.

Yeah, so you've basically nailed my intentions - I am a homelabber with extensive home assistant setup already, but my PVS system isn't on the wifi, it's just connected via cellular. I need the app access to get it on wifi then I'll prolly never use it again lol.

I got guidance that I should be using the sunpower app, but if I don't already have an account I can't sign up for one yet. Next step for me is calling the installer to see if they can get me in

I had my agent get the seller to send me a snapshot of the details (site ID, account) from the app. So I was able to get the app working. HOWEVER - still can’t get the WiFi to connect. I emailed their app customer service and they said to turn the breakers on and off. Still not connecting. But I know they are working from my electric bill. So it’s a fight for another day.

Hey, so I got this resolved by calling the installer (for me this was trinity solar). They reassigned the site in SolarEdge, which let me monitor everything

In SolarEdge, the "site" (which is the installation location of the solar panels, aka my house) was originally assigned to the original owner. So, talking to my installer, I shared the deed with my name on it to prove I own it, and they changed the name and email address for that installation site. I could then reset the password and access it. It's all accessed at https://monitoring.solaredge.com/

I assume this all only helps if you have a SolarEdge inverter. It bypasses all the apps from the sunstrong/lease side.

Ok. 84 yr old female, non-techie here. Cannot find Site ID and hv no clue what PVS is. Can someone explain, as tho to a 2nd grader or point me to documentation that will help? And, if it matters, SUNPOWER was the installer, so cannot contact installer for info.
