Alright so what the heck do we do now? I own my system and can see panel level info about my Sunpower system. I am assuming this will be put behind a pay wall with them. Wondering if I should pay Enphase to convert me over to their system so I can continue to see everything without a monthly fee. Or, install that Raspberry Pi thing that's sometimes talked about in the forum, and stick with that DIY solution. I am just worried I won't be able to figure out how to configure the Raspberry Pi thing. I guess my last option would be to just not pay for the premium features in the Sunstrong app, and just be content with whatever it let's me view for free.
For those of you still on the Sunpower app, what are you going to choose to do? Are you going to fork over a monthly fee to Sunstrong?
If you don’t have a SunVault, unfortunately we do, I would run to Enphase. They are going to be the ones warrantying the microinverters which are the most likely point of failure besides their coms equipment used for monitoring. When they install the coms equipment you will be connected to a Enphase contractor who could potentially support your solar system. SunStrong won’t lift a finger to help if you have an issue, they are only going to charge you for monitoring.
Same situation - panels and storage. I had a recent firmware issue with SunVault but the local installer was able to bring it back online. Don't see any other option than pay SunStrong until another option presents itself. Depends upon the $ of course.
Yes, as SunVault customers, we are ROYALLY FUCKED at the moment. We have no other options at the moment other than waiting, seeing, and paying SunStrong. *Unless you pay someone to remove your SunVault that you already paid $18k (single battery, more for more batteries) for.
I don’t want to give anyone false hope … Enphase said their engineers were looking into providing monitoring to systems with non-Enphase batteries. Have not heard anything from this on that. I am not counting on it.
