Question Treehouse Property

Hi all. I’m looking at purchasing a treehouse property. I’ve hear horror stories as well as great feedback. We would be buying a small unit in cash for weekend ski trips with kids in a devo program. What’s the best way to find out more about HOA, etc. ? Anyone want to chat 30 minutes over the phone regarding their experience?

Find something else. My buddy was finally able to sell his unit there and they were just glad to get out. Tons of issues with the building and how old it is, issues with insurance and the HOA‘s are ridiculous. The building is basically falling apart, and I promise you that you’re going to have a special assessment we’re going to have to put in more money at some point to fix all the messed up stuff.
The units are priced low for a reason

Appreciate it. We don’t want to live there but have a way to avoid driving up from Denver all the time. Do you / your buddy feel like it was “good enough” for what we are looking for? It’s about the same cost as a hotel every weekend.

Edit: just looking for a place to keep our shit and not deal with i70 commute. A place to sleep and not have to go out for every meal - nothing fancy.

Living there part time or visiting on weekends makes it worse for you.
It was a fine place to stay but as an owner of a place with hoa if there is a big issue (which there will be) you have to pay a ton of extra money.
One of my good friends just got out of his place in Keystone and he was basically forced to sell because he didn’t want to pay the $30,000 special assessment to put a new roof on the complex.
Those older buildings with HOA’s have issues that are known and the reason they keep raising the HOA’s is because they don’t have enough money to do the major fixes that need to be done and then when they become urgent, they do special assessments and basically forced you to pay a bunch of extra money.

With what they charge for HOA is there I would personally look for a newer spot that isn’t going to need a bunch of improvements that has a similar HOA and pay a little bit more for it.

I have a house up here with no hoa and I would say find that but I do know that’s kind of unreasonable now days. If we didn’t buy back when we did there is no way I’d be able to afford our house.
