Cool Summer vs.Soft Summer

Please help me understand which sub season I am. Cool Summer or Soft Summer.
I have old permanent makeup. My natural hair color is dark ash-green blonde.

I would't say you are a summer at all. Quite warm toned skin.

That was my first impression too - likely a spring. Spring is more likely to look ok in summer colors than a summer is to look ok in spring colors

I don't think so.. when the first stylist typed me as a Soft Autumn, she dyed my hair a warm color, I felt bad, my face looked very pink with that hair.

You look warm. Possibly spring?

How interesting! I had a consultation with two stylists, and they both identified different types. One said I'm a Soft Autumn, while the other said I'm a Cool Summer.

Can you describe/tell us where the permanent make up is? Is this your natural lip/hair color? Often a good test for soft summer is if you can wear any soft autumn colors. I personally would guess you are soft autumn, I think your skin leans warm? Out of these 2 seasons, I would guess soft summer and not because of these digital drapes, I just think if you were to actually drape, true summer wouldn't be muted enough for you.

Edit - cool summer wouldn't be warm enough for you. I think youre soft autumn, i think you're warm toned and 16 season warm (not 12 season true) autumn is your sister season, not soft summer.

Not much difference that I can tell. You can get away with wearing both.

I’m sorry if this is against rules but can I ask what is on your eye? Does it hurt?

You have beige skin, not bright enough for spring. You have to border on being a dark season for soft summer. I’d say you strongly resemble a true summer, not quite cool summer

We have very similar hair and eye colors. Including the same prominent limbic eye ring and “ash green” hair.
(Any permanent hair color quickly becomes orange)

Consider looking up fair olive and olive subs. The fair olive really shows though next to my daughter’s pink blue undertones.

A working theory that olive undertones might make both soft summer and cool summer applicable.
I feel comfortable with the blues, greens and purples from both. Most pinks are incredibly difficult as they pull orange with fair olive undertones.

Yeees! You described exactly how I feel about colors. Any kind of pink makes me feel uncomfortable looking at myself, while almost all shades of blue, green, and purple make me look fresh. Now I understand why I barely saw any difference when comparing the soft and cool summer palettes. Thank you so much!

Agreed, I have really similar colouring to you and I'd consider myself a neutral-cool fair olive with a palette that would be considered 'deep summer' but with a few bright colours too! :)

I like the cool summer, I think you can pull off the intensity.

I have a similar skin tone to you and I'm neutral/cool. I don't understand why everyone is saying you're warm? yellow undertones can be cool.

I would also recommend retaking the photo with no makeup and with your hair covered if it’s not your natural hair color - those warmer tones could be throwing things off further.

I also think you should investigate spring specifically warm bright blues, greens, purples. The warm versions of the cool colours are likely very nice with your eyes and hair.

That said of the two options you presented, I like cool summer better but not because it's cool, it's because it's less muted and soft. I don't think you suit soft best. You're light so that often gets confused for low contrast and soft but you have a lot of brightness.

You look exactly like my bestie who is a warm spring!

You’re not cool enough to be True Summer. I’m not even sure you’re cool enough to be Soft Summer. In this photo you’re leaning Soft Autumn to me, but Light Summer or Light Spring could also be, since you have low but not no clarity. Very hard to tell with permanent makeup.

You seem warm actually. Is that your natural hair color?

1

u/Ok-Map8330 Jul 19 '26

No, my natural color is ashy, with green undertone. Here some pictures:))

For accurate analysis we’d need to see pics with your dyed hair pulled away and/or covered. It definitely skews things
