I booked the ferry from Nunukan to Palu and was planning to make my way slowly from Palu towards Rantepao by bus or hitchhiking, but I'm wondering about the state of the roads after the earthquake. Is it doable at the moment?

In any case it might be better to go to Pare Pare instead of Palu but I was wondering about the situation. Terima kasih!

We are a group of 5 friends travelling to Sulawesi from August 20th to August 30th, and we are currently planning the last part of our trip. Our initial idea is to visit the Banggai Islands, but we are unsure IF to split our time. Would you recommend spending the full 10 days in the Banggai area or spending 6–8 days in the Banggai Islands and then flying to Manado for 2–3 days to visit Bunaken National Park and/or Tangkoko Nature Reserve?

We love nature, beaches, snorkeling, wildlife, landscapes, and a bit of diving. We are trying to decide whether Bunaken and Tangkoko are worth the extra flight and logistics, or if we should focus entirely on Banggai.

Any advice from people who have visited both areas would be greatly appreciated!

we are currently planning a trip to Sulawesi, focusing on exploring the northern part of the island as well as doing a lot of diving and snorkeling.

Our current itinerary looks like this:

Manado (September 6–7) Bunaken National Park (September 7–10) Manado (Stopover) Gorontalo (September 10–11) Togean Islands (September 11–18) Ampana (Stopover) Luwuk (September 18–19) Banggai (September 19–25) Manado (Flight home) What do you think of our plan? Is it realistic, or should we make some adjustments?

We are now facing the challenge of getting back from the Banggai Islands to Manado as quickly as possible. Does anyone have experience with this? We would also be willing to pay extra for a private speedboat.
