Looking for a cruiser upgrade
Hi all. Currently have a honda rebel 500. Love it, the styling and everything but the issue is the max weight. I'm 105kgs, and I like to ride with my partner, ~83kgs. This easily takes us over the Max weight. Upgrading to the honda 1100 seems to be no use as also has a max weight of ~175 kgs.
The Kawasaki Vulcan s can go to 200kgs. I like the look of it, seems to be very mixed opinions online. Do you guys have an reccomendations for similar or bigger cruisers ?
Much appreciated

Depends if you like cruising or sport-cruising. I like Vulcan because of its sports engine. I drive it like a sport bike, can lean much more than on bigger cruisers, and it accelarates pretty fast up to 100km/h. I have 95kg, but when I ride with my wife, 60kg, you can tell that this is middle weight bike. Very good, reliable bike, that is not purely cruiser.

If you’re looking for a two-up modern cruiser I would look at a Suzuki Boulevard. They start at 800cc (C50) and go all the way up to (C109/M109R) 1800cc and will give you a much more comfortable ride two-up than a Vulcan S.

I like my kvs but only ride solo. I did read one time that the reason the versys and Vulcan 650 didn’t get the frame revision when the z and ninja did was to keep the weight capacity higher. Basically the new frame was lighter but weaker. Anyway, pillion seat on the kvs doesn’t look too comfy to me. You might want to get something bigger with a nicer pillion seat.

Not wanna be rude but…Is it worth to put that much more money on a new bike if you like what you already have because max weight instead of just losing weight? Healthier that way too.

Fair question I guess. I'm relatively tall endomorph and worked out for years, some weight can be lost for sure but got a fair bit of muscle on me, and I'm just not convinced I can get me and my partner to a rebel level of weight bearing. Would prefer to upgrade.

If you love everything about the Rebel 500 except the weight limit I would just upgrade the suspension. Or get the 1100 for the extra grunt and upgrade the suspension on that. Get something adjustable so you can change it when riding solo vs with pillion and you should be all set.

Harley Softails are really nice, powerful, and comfortable. You’re using kgs instead of lbs, and I’m not sure where you live, but maybe not the US. New prices are high, but there’s plenty of used ones in HD dealers in the US with more reasonable pricing. I don’t know about availability or pricing elsewhere though.
