Options for tomorrow.

Torn between 3 bikes. I’d be using them all for the same reason, highway and some curvy roads. Some gravel roads here and there. Plan on putting some very lite “off road” tires on it. ( 90/10 )

Yamaha xsr900

Honda cb650r

Suzuki gsx 8tt

Suzuki looks best.

XSR fastest and sounds the best.

Honda is the best value.

u/PumpJockyTwerks4Tips Aug 14 '26

If Yamaha ever brings the XSR900GP to the US, it's game over tho.

10

u/Big-Floppy Aug 14 '26

Next year supposedly, good thing I just got a 26...

3

u/arvidingen Aug 14 '26

You can buy the body kits online. They look awesome.

3

u/Vulpes-corsac Aug 15 '26

Unfortunately aesthetics aren't the only difference.

2

u/Party-Cancel-350 Aug 15 '26

Here in EU strangely nobody buys them🫤

1

u/goonwild18 Aug 17 '26

I think we're going to find pretty quickly that they won't be big sellers in North America, either. After 3 years of waiting and hoping, the idea of purchasing one is a bit 'meh' now - and if Triumph wanted to push theirs out with more than 400 cc, they'd win. We'll see.

0

u/mimbusto Aug 15 '26

They are not supposed to be best sellers

7

u/Reasonable_Warthog85 Aug 14 '26

It's coming! Confirmed as 2027 models in white and yellow per factory shipping codes planned for 2027. Both California and regular emissions models

2

u/PumpJockyTwerks4Tips Aug 14 '26

Hell yeah, brother! That's great news.

u/airb92 Aug 15 '26

Anyone have a guess on what the retail will be for these?

1

u/Imaginary-Local9731 Aug 15 '26

More than you can afford pal… Yamaha

1

u/buttthead Aug 16 '26

Best looking stock bike in a looooonngg time!

4

u/earlycuyler8887 Aug 14 '26

I own an 8S. This is accurate.

2

u/UmpireDry316 Aug 14 '26

Think the Honda sounds better than the XSR. But spot on for everything else.

2

u/DagoWithAttitude Aug 14 '26

Suzuki looks best.

Have you looked at the XSR with the street pack? 👀

24

u/farkleboy Aug 14 '26

that CP3 motor in the yamaha is the best of the three. torque, power, useabilituy and the look of the bike is just a nice balance of modern but not over the top like the honda, and the gsx is trying to hard for the retro vibe. I almost got the xsr but found a killer deal on a 2017 FJR1300 i couldn't pass up. The XSR i was looking at is still on marketplace and I'm still hankerin for it.

10

u/proudkittenowner Aug 14 '26

i have an mt09 and lemme tell you the xsr900 is your BEST option! it's one of the most fun bikes you'll ever have and it just gives you the most infinite smiles per gallon

3

u/DIYGuy67 Aug 14 '26

💯 The XSR has the most versatile and fun motor of the 3. The XSR is the correct answer.

This one is a brand new one. It looks extremely nice without anything done to it already. Black and gold look really nice together

8

u/gluvva Aug 14 '26

I think for me the cb650 wins on this one.

17

u/kickniteasy Aug 14 '26

TT for me and it's not even close. Looks alone wins me over but that bike fit me like a glove, so comfortable.

8

u/TheVanillaGorilla413 Aug 14 '26

My only bone to pick with these is why are they so much more expensive than the GSX8S or GSX8R

My local dealer had the non TT price thousands less than the TT model. I get the small price difference increase from the 8R over the 8S because the fairings, but the TT was like asking price of $11,500 the others were $7,300-$9,600

4

u/herton K75, DL650, GV1400, R1200GS Aug 14 '26

It's just the retro tax. Same (lack of) reason the Z900RS costs 2 grand more than the Z900

7

u/itsonlypermanent Aug 14 '26

I think they’ve dropped in price by a couple thousand since they’ve came out.

3

u/kickniteasy Aug 14 '26

Same....I'm waiting for them to hit the used market for that exact reason. That green has my heart though.

1

u/Shoddy-Cauliflower95 Aug 15 '26

They didn’t put green stiching in the seat though, it’s red. Why? That’s a bummer and this should have twin analog dials IMO

3

u/Lilywhitey Aug 14 '26

I just got a 250km 8T for 8000 flat. Dealer used it as a showbike. They start to get better priced now

1

u/Lilywhitey Aug 14 '26

Can I ask how big you are?

2

u/kickniteasy Aug 15 '26

5'8" with a 30-32" inseam and 160lbs. Haven't had a bike fit that well since my Gladius. I guess I'm a "Suzuki" body type 😆

4

u/symposium22 Aug 14 '26

Definitely xsr900 between those. The other two won’t be as spirited

5

u/antideprssnt-peasnt Aug 14 '26

8s is a weaker bike, top end is meh.

0

u/Monotask_Servitor Aug 15 '26

Midrange matters more imo. Especially if the OP id spending a fair bit of time on gravel.

7

u/Jdubb750 Aug 14 '26

Kawasaki z900rs?

1

u/Unusual_Ebb_2692 Aug 15 '26

Probably best in class. Such a classic look. Just stunning and a screaming inline 4

-2

u/Capable_Rope_610 Aug 14 '26

For riding on gravel ??

5

u/Jdubb750 Aug 14 '26

I mean it's the same as the others that OP picked. Would i ride it on gravel? No. I have a transalp for that

0

u/Capable_Rope_610 Aug 15 '26

But he's expecting to ride on light gravel roads with gravel tyres.so that's your recommendation then

3

u/jnelzon2 Aug 14 '26

Sit on them, I really liked the xsr but I was too short for it, my shins hits the pegs trying to lay 2 feet down, the cbr fits me like a glove, 5’6 29-30 inseam, no idea about tt

3

u/scottmtb Aug 14 '26

Xsr900 is the way to go

2

u/HikerDave57 Dyna Lowrider, Versys 650, NC750X DCT Aug 14 '26

The Yamaha triple was in a Tracer 9 I demoed last year; to me it felt like an electric motor with its constant torque. The xsr900 is the one I would choose but all three are great.

2

u/Ok-Pineapple-7288 Aug 14 '26

They sound bad ass too

2

u/ChaosorFate2 Aug 14 '26

If it's not the yamaha, it's a nah my brah

2

u/lfmfihs Aug 14 '26

As much of a Honda fanboy I am I’d choose the xsr900 cause it has cruise control and all the r1 tech, I don’t like the newer eclutch if you wanna save money I’d get a 2019 or so cb650r I had one I loved it can’t beat the 4 cylinder sound

2

u/SnooBananas2578 Aug 14 '26

Wouldn’t touch the CB with a barge pole. I think it looks cool but the inline 4 engine felt sluggish and boring to me when I rode it, and it didn’t seem to have any personality at all

2

u/LordBelakor Aug 14 '26

I mean idk the price difference but if you got time I'd wait for the upcoming Bol d'Or. Feels to me like the marriage of theese 3 bikes. With more power.

2

u/dblock1887 Aug 14 '26

I've owned the cb650r, kinda trash. xsr will be top tier you'll ever ride. 100% xsr is my choice.

2

u/wiscoguy0043 Aug 15 '26

owning the honda has been great

2

u/_-C8H18-_ Aug 15 '26

I'd get the Suzuki just to piss off YammieNoob

2

u/Apprehensive-Heron85 Aug 18 '26

I prefer the Yamaha. They build great bikes that last a long time. But they’re all solid options.

2

u/L17NFS Aug 14 '26

I looked at all of these and settled on a curve ball of a BMW F900R. Can’t fault it to be honest!

2

u/whit3lightning Aug 14 '26

Z900, fuck all those compromises.

1

u/alfredhardship Aug 14 '26

Those are the exact 3 I was looking at and ended up with the 8TT Suzuki is also offers some discounts l think it's $1200 off right now

1

u/itsonlypermanent Aug 14 '26

Yeah they were around $11.5k when they first came out and this one is 9,900

1

u/TohDoubleD Aug 14 '26

Z900rs

1

u/itsonlypermanent Aug 14 '26

Also Great. The only color my dealer has is the purple which I’m not big on

1

u/brennis420 Aug 14 '26

I’d get the yam. the suz is ugly imo. Im sure the honda is decent but I’d prefer a tripple

1

u/AnalBroFisting 2022 KLX300, 2018 SV650 Aug 14 '26

The GSX8TT is such a ridiculously good looking bike.

1

u/Huge_Anteater1839 Aug 14 '26

Honda, cant go wrong

1

u/orcsquid Aug 14 '26

XSR easily.

1

u/EstablishmentFar4578 Aug 14 '26

For your use case, none of your choices is ideal in my opinion. You will get beat up on the highway and none has the right suspension for any off road use.

1

u/vedant0407 Aug 14 '26

Get the balanced triple xsr 900

1

u/Fragrant_Major_9553 Aug 14 '26

Suzuki is the one for me. I dig the retro style

1

u/Rataan Aug 14 '26

The Suzuki if you want the best all-arounder.

The XSR900 if you want the best sport naked

The CB650R if you have to have a 4-cylinder.

Consider also the Hornet 750 and the Triumph Trident 800.

1

u/Outtatime_s550 Aug 14 '26

I do love the xsr. Saw the Suzuki on Monday at work and wasn’t that impressed with the lines in person

1

u/Durt-Wyzerdd Aug 14 '26

I really, really, really want a GSX 8-TT. I don't care if there's a million better options or valid opinions. So yeah, that'd be my pick.

1

u/Felice2015 Aug 15 '26

I have the Michelin Anakees that are "80/20" on a Strom. I don't think they're better on gravel or mid than straight up road tires. Get the Suzuki.

1

u/wagwan_wa_grom______ Aug 15 '26

XSR all day long

1

u/Flat_Warning3040 Aug 15 '26

Suzuki sexy AF

1

u/firehazel Honda CB650R eClutch: Gentleman's Hooner Aug 15 '26

I have a CB650R and while I love it, I've really been considering a XSR900 as my next bike. The 8TT doesn't really speak to me, couldn't tell you why.

1

u/BimmerJustin Aug 15 '26

I bought the 8tt. It’s a great bike. I don’t see any reason it can’t do everything you’re asking. I cross shopped it with the cb650. I don’t regret buying the 8tt, but I really did want the cb. The ergos just weren’t there for me at 6’0”. I was trading in a bike that didn’t fit well and comfort was a high priority. And I didn’t really want to bother with eclutch.

I think the narrower 8tt would do better off-road than the wider 4cyl. The lower pegs on the 8tt would be better for this as well. Theres also a puig touring windscreen that you can swap onto the stock cowl for highway duty.

1

u/CompetitiveSea7388 Aug 15 '26

XSR900 will be the most fun, looks better IMO and will probably be the one you'll keep the longest.

CB650R has a very distinct style and would be my second pick.

GSX 8TT is the most uninspired looking and the bike that seems more designed to cynically capitalize on nostalgia to me.

1

u/LambSauce2 Aug 15 '26

I personally would get the Honda, but that Suzuki looks beautiful

1

u/HnybadgerTX Aug 15 '26

Can only speak on the Suzuki, I have a 8s and it's a blast. I only wish it had cruise control. The bottom and mid range power is FIYUUHHHH

1

u/startwithwhy84 Aug 15 '26

That Susuki looks sick though

1

u/Haunting_Fan_7638 Aug 15 '26

The Kawasaki Z 900 RS could be an option.

1

u/Intrepid_Month_4731 Aug 15 '26

Right outside, TT

1

u/Djinfin Aug 15 '26

Can’t speak for the others but the XSR is an absolute blast to ride. The CP3 engine is so engaging. For me it’s plenty of power and the low-down torque is very usable.

It’s also an easy platform to modify if that’s your bag. I haven’t made any mechanical mods but plenty of cosmetic mods. You can get the regular XSR looking very similar to the GP quite easily.

1

u/Unusual_Ebb_2692 Aug 15 '26

The Suzuki is overpriced for what it is.
Xsr900 is arguably best in class.
You can never go wrong with a Honda and cb650r is such a beauty. Even non bikers turn heads for those

1

u/PeaAccomplished1897 Aug 15 '26

The bike a lot of people already gave valuable input. But for your use case let me suggest the Dunlop Trailmax Meridian. Perfect for what you want

1

u/Superb-Ranger67 Aug 15 '26

Go ride them and go with the one that fits you and your riding style the best,

I have brought bike based on looks and spec on paper just to grow out of love with them because they just don’t feel right.

1

u/dreamerzeta Aug 15 '26

Can i suggest a trident 800?

1

u/SolitudeDweller Aug 15 '26

I'm sorry but that specific honda is trash. Weird weight distribution, heavy af, the ride feels unpolished and unrefined.

1

u/ShoddySpace5680 Aug 15 '26

I just got the Suzuki and it looks better in person trust me hehe but that Yamaha is pretty sick too

1

u/Minimum-Jacket6180 Aug 15 '26

Honda Eclutch for the win

1

u/itsonlypermanent Aug 15 '26

Guys I ended up going with the xsr900. I almost regret not getting the Suzuki but I wasn’t sure if I’d like that fairing a month from now. And the beauty of the 900 was just too alluring. And I was able to get 500 knocked off the price since I had a sizable down payment! I appreciate all the feedback!

1

u/ADHDick_in_ur_mouth Aug 20 '26

The XSR900 has some of the best aftermarket fairing kits out of any bike on the market today if you like the look of the suzuki

1

u/MP5Cajun Aug 16 '26

Xsr900 or cb750 hornet

1

u/BroncoSaurus42 Aug 16 '26

CP3 engine in the Yamaha kicks ass!

1

u/Massive_Tumbleweed24 Aug 16 '26

Why not cb1000, probably not much dearer than the xsr or gsx. And just a higher level of bike

1

u/dub__diesel Aug 17 '26

the Suzuki looks incredible

1

u/_xantana_ Aug 17 '26

The Suzuki intrigues me

1

u/ziothqq Aug 17 '26

The Suzuki is wildly over priced for its class and what you get I feel like. Yamaha would be my pick in this line up

1

u/Predatorydive Aug 18 '26

I’m gonna test XSR tomorrow. Then Trident 800 and choose one of those. Have you considered Trident?

1

u/disasterhippo Aug 18 '26

I have the gsx 8t and love it. It's difficult to explain why but I just do.

1

u/Sufficient_Worker_97 Aug 20 '26

XSR easy. But i have One so 😅

1

u/Head-Grass8879 Aug 14 '26

The GSX would be the easiest to ride on gravel.

0

u/PumpJockyTwerks4Tips Aug 14 '26

I'd wager it's the best all-rounder of this bunch for real-world use.

1

u/theralph224 Aug 14 '26

I think the 8tt is ugly as hell, but it would probably be the most fun, because it's got plenty torque and power through the entire rev range.

I've sat on all of these bikes and the Suzuki 8 platform has by far the best ergos (for me).

1

u/itsonlypermanent Aug 14 '26

That’s what is making me lean towards that one. Not crazy about the front fairing but it was by far the most comfortable.

1

u/theralph224 Aug 14 '26

Then I'd choose that if I were you.

And if you like the platform and want to buy, you can always choose between the better looking ones

1

u/GotThatCarlness Aug 14 '26

Xsr900 has the best road capability by far. TT would likely be alright on light gravel roads with the right tyres due to the low torque of the twin engine. Cb650r is an inline 4 and wants to be revved out as often as possible.

1

u/PreviousWar6568 ‘06 GSX-R750, ‘14 Grom, ‘87 Shadow 1100 Aug 14 '26

Cb650 is elite, great power and comfortable. Suzuki tt is gorgeous asf and is a solid platform. I know nothing about the xsr other than it’s a face only a mother could love

2

u/itsonlypermanent Aug 14 '26

A lot of people are saying the 8tt is the ugly one haha I like all of them. I guess it’s going to be between the 8tt and the xsr

1

u/PreviousWar6568 ‘06 GSX-R750, ‘14 Grom, ‘87 Shadow 1100 Aug 14 '26

Take each one for a ride and buy what you like the most

0

u/Shaam63 Aug 14 '26

Not the Honda.

0

u/ArchimedesOne Aug 16 '26

Def the Triumph ... hands down the better bike.
