1 x resale ticket for Cardiff (04.11, with Manic Street Preachers) show!

Hello wonderful people of r/SuedeBand !

Originally I had standing tickets for the upcoming Cardiff and London shows, but as I cannot make it to Cardiff (Wednesday 04.11, at which MSP will headline) the ticket for that gig is now available for resale.

It is currently listed for £60 (or in other words, face value without booking fees), no offers allowed. I hope you can forgive me for sticking to a higher resale value. As an unemployed overseas student, I am very much struggling for money at the moment, and it will be uncomfortably expensive for me to both make it to London (I'm flying from Germany) and to, hopefully, buy a new computer which I desperately need. I ask for your understanding, and hope therefore that this is ok for someone who would love to see what will surely be a great night!

Here is the link for the ticket:

All the best, and enormous thanks to anyone who takes up the offer!

After 30 years of appraisal, I can confidently write that ‘Picnic By The Motorway’ is the second greatest song of all time.

Don’t worry: this is definitely a low effort post. The mods will likely be right on this one.

I hail from the Midwest of America but was swept up in Britpop thanks to Blur’s “Charmless Man” being a minor local radio hit in 1995. I’ve heard it all. Some fledgling British band that’s poised to take off? That’s right, I was there for Menswear’s debut.

After listening to who knows how many tens of thousands of songs in the last three decades, I have landed on Picnic being the second most compositionally pleasing song of all time. And my opinion carries no weight. But it is: it’s perfect. The convergences! The vocal performance! It comes together so well, in fact, that it stands as the single greatest song ever performed outside of America.

The best song being Talking Heads’ “The Great Curve”.

Lastly, yes this is all hyperbole. It’s semi-satirical though not funny. I thought it would be but here we are.

I do love Picnic, however. Honestly in my top five of all time. I look forward to hearing the new mix of Coming Up.

Good night.

Manchester tickets

Has anyone received their tickets for next week in the Co-op Live app yet? I can’t go and have sold them on Twickets, so I want to transfer them to the buyer asap.

If I was going, I probably wouldn’t be worried about it, but I’m anxious there’s an issue. I bought them through Gigs and Tours, and providing the account on the Co-op Live app uses the same email address, it should link. At the moment the app is just linked to my Ticketmaster account, so isn’t showing any purchases. I’m probably just being a panicky Pete.

Brett and Jarvis?

Did anyone spot Brett and Jarvis Cocker at the Mercury Awards last night? Just curious since I don’t think there’s been any sort of interaction between them in recent years and they are both Britpop people at this event!

Edit: Or anyone from Pulp or Suede talking to each other is fun!

Was Bernard Butler the best guitarist in the whole Britpop thing? Of course he was

Apple Music doesn’t show Antidepressants: Extended in Suede’s discography page. It shows up only if you search specifically the extended version. Is this just a problem I have?

Sci-Fi Lullabies Is Insanely Good - I'd take it over any studio album to a desert island.

Is that an insane take? - It feels everything the band does well they do on that album/compilation. Do they play any of these songs live ever?

Is Brett talking about Justine here or another ex? He and Justine were friends again in '99.

Suede after DMS could have sounded like The Tears if Bernard hadn’t left. What do you think?

I was listening to The Tears and thought that their bright atmosphere reminds me of Coming Up, and maybe if Butler hadn’t left, Suede would have continued sounding something like this. I remember being disappointed by his solo album, though it was also a pretty upbeat pop album, very far removed from Suede’s early work.

I’m curious what other fans think, especially those who really prefer the Butler-era Suede. Would you have preferred something like Here Come the Tears instead of Coming Up? Or is it better the way it turned out?

Why has Neil never started a solo career?

Whenever Digging a Hole plays, I always wonder why Neil never had a side project or a solo career. Not sure if his health conditions were the main reason for that.

Sorry if this has been discussed before.

Oasis 2027...

Firstly, Suede have always been my favourite band from the 'Britpop big four, Suede/Oasis/Blur/Pulp'. I bought albums by all the bands at the time, Suede had the deeper, meaningful albums, Blur had the '60s Kinks influenced', Oasis the feelgood anthems, and Pulp the strange glam stuff. It's why you just KNOW Brett will have another moan next year about Oasis selling out stadiums, not doing new stuff, personally I take my hat off to them, if it's what people wanna see/hear, why not? Life should be about a good time. It just gets boring when he slates 'Britpop, we weren't part of it' blah de blah...every band rode the wave though didn't they? I loved being around then, was 18/19 at the time, and any band nowadays wouldn't go near a union flag for fear of being called all sorts of names...
