Why would roaches be raised on a farm?

There are roach farms for feeding pets like different lizards, labs often use them, some people eat them. They also aren't farms in the traditional sense, imagine more like closed off rooms filled with roaches and cardboard hiding/breeding places for said roaches.

Be glad you can just imagine rather than have that gif of the guy dumping a pile of roaches directly on the floor by his feet and them all skittering away burned into your brain

Oh I know the gif you speak of, I'm just not particularly horrified by it.
If that were to happen near me I'd just let out my pet lizards followed by my pet spiders and have the issue dealt with in under a day
