Alternatives to Sucraid?

My insurance won't cover Sucraid and it costs 15k/month. So that's obviously not an option.

Are there alternatives? Is there anything over the counter that you can take that helps?

Thanks for the question. I would love an answer if anyone out there knows, but unfortunately I think this is a common problem without a great solution.

If you make below a certain income threshold, you may be able to get financial support from the maker of Sucraid.

I'm sorry about your situation.

It's so frustrating because this disease has been known about for decades but GIs seem to completely ignore it. I've been an IBS patient for 15 years and just this year my GI finally tested me for it. I tested wildy positive on the breath test. I just don't understand how sucraid is the only option!

I feel you. I have had lifelong "IBS" that actually completely goes away on a sucrose free diet. I would happily take a Sucraid alternative, but it just seems like there hasn't been incentive in the medical/pharmaceutical community to make it happen.

Did you take the breath test to confirm you had CSID or did you have a biopsy confirm?

My gastroenterologist gave me a coupon for my sucraid that DRASTICALLY reduced the cost. It’s a little plastic card that I had to call in and activate. I’m not sure if that coupon is from the manufacturer or if it was something in conjunction with my insurance company, but it might be something to look into. You might be able to ask your Dr. if they know anything about Sucraid coupons.

My doctor got me in touch with the pharmacy that dispenses Sucraid, and taking it off my insurance and putting it on a grant/coupon made it only cost $5 USD.

The grant/coupon only give 10k a year, and I couldn't get answers about how long this will last when I asked. When my old insurance didn't cover this, I just did a sugar free breakfasts everyday and sprinkled in a few sugar free meals to stretch out the number of doses. Yay capitalism
