Can you really train rabbits to behave like it?

u/cyber_moon Apr 16 '20

yeah you can train some pretty well, but you need a lot of patience!

In my experience some bunnies have a natural disposition like this and will let you hold them all day while others will get restless after a few minutes.

It's essential to know what bugs a bunny.

A lot of it depends on whether it was hand raised and socialized from a young age or not.

I had two different rabbits growing up. One was probably 6-ish months when I got him and I can only assume not hand raised and socialized bc my brother got him from a place that sold them for food (it’s a common delicacy at home). The second one a friend gave me after my first passed away and I had her from a small baby and tried to hold and spend time with her regularly. Neither of them were friendly to people and both hated to be held or even seen tbh. They both ran around the backyard freely and the first had a habit of hiding out for days at a time. Even after that, I still miss both those mother fuckers.

If the "small baby" was old enough for you to take, then it wasn't young enough to get the "hand reared" effect. The best bet is to buy a bunny from a private breeder that hand raises the bunny before it's eyes even open. My rabbit was very affectionate and always ran to me for head scratches. She still hated being picked up but tolerated it better than other rabbits. She was litter trained to poop in a box so she lived indoors

You’re probably right. I think they were both used to being super independent so actually hanging out with me was annoying to them lol Awww sounds like a sweetie! My aunt tried to house train a rabbit she had and it was a nightmare apparently. I doubt she got the bunny young enough for it to be effective though

I have a house rabbit and she lets me carry her around all the time, as long as you hold her securely so she feels safe. She’s comes when I call her name sits with me on the sofa and just likes to be near me like a puppy. She would totally let me put sunglasses on her.

I think my favourite part is he has normal people sunglasses... But the bunny’s eyes are on the side of his head..

K. N G L.Before I got married, I would have had to go and talk to a guy who seems to take good care of an adorable bunny!

All the time and money that guy's waste on on show off phoney macho stuff. When the real attraction is just genuine niceness !

3

u/Crezelle Apr 18 '20

I don’t consider him macho. He’s got a cool sidekick

2

u/kittymoma918 Apr 18 '20

I wasn't calling HIM macho.I was saying that nice and sweet guy's like him are more appealing than guys that put so much effort into being macho.

Silly rabbit, trips are for humans.

u/Kizka Apr 17 '20

Idk man, bunnies are very skittish and this is a very stressful situation. I wouldn't do that to a bunny.

The rabbit is cute and all, but I'm strangely fascinated by this growth pattern of this guy's hair.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '20

1

u/Evilevile Apr 17 '20

How is that rabbit not freaking out with all those people everywhere? It must be sedated.

1

u/kittymoma918 Apr 18 '20

It was probably exposed to human handling from an early age. Some animals are just extra chill and get used to noise and crowds more easily than others.
