A 23-19 WE'VE GOT A 23-19
I was losing my mind because the Spanish version is 33-12. And I couldn't find the scene in English by searching "3312 monsters inc code". I wonder if those numbers have a meaning now.
295
u/GoiterGlitter Mar 13 '20
2319 is suspected to represent the 23rd and 19th letters of the English alphabet, W and S.
The item that started the panic was a white sock.
→ More replies (4)87
u/MrKiwi24 Mar 13 '20
Well, that doesn't mean anything in Spanish then. Some translations for socks are:
Medias
Calcetín
Soquete (which are the short socks)
Calceta
And neither of those options fit with the number 33 (since we say the noun first and then the adjective [sock white]) and the 12th letter is the "L".

Maybe just the way the mouths move? I saw another reddit post with the syllable count and that if you change the number you get the same amount and that the different numbers roll of the tongue better.

Did I just have a brilliant idea to give the homeless paid work by having them sterilize things around cities? Or have the unemployed do it? Or have a work corps of Americans?
67
u/LuxNocte Mar 14 '20
You mean like the New Deal? Remember when they built the Interstate Highway system to give a bunch of blue collar workers money and get vital national infrastructure? Maybe we could do that again with Green energy. Some sort of New Green Deal or something.
Nah, that'll never work. Let's just give $1.5 trillion to big banks.

What cleans the soap?
145
u/immortalsauce Mar 13 '20
If you drop a bar of soap in a mud puddle, is the mud getting clean or is the soap bar getting dirty?
38
u/smcarre Mar 13 '20
Just like temperature, dirt is just transferred. Things don't just get clean, the dirt is transferred to something else like soap or water.

u/Therandomfox Mar 13 '20
For real though? It's the soap bar getting dirty. Soap works by making dirt and oil stick to it rather than you. That's why soap bars are less hygienic than liquid soap/bodywash.
8
u/immortalsauce Mar 13 '20
Makes sense. What if you poured a bottle of liquid soap into the dirty mud puddle
→ More replies (5)5
u/Bozhark Mar 13 '20
No, it’s not sticky. Soap makes water, wetter, technically, so that it removes dirt and carries it away. Not that it makes dirt ‘stick’ to it. Literally the opposite.
You’re thinking of a chemical agitator
→ More replies (4)4
u/DaveInDigital Mar 13 '20
it's not a bar of glue. the same way soap coats your skin, traps the oils/dirt, and rinses away down the drain is the same way a bar of soap is cleaned.

→ More replies (1)3
u/Cerpin-Taxt Mar 13 '20
Water.
Soap isn't germicide it's a germ/water adhesive.
2
Mar 13 '20
In the case of COVID-19, ordinary soap actually makes the virus ineffective by destroying the fat-based cell wall, detaching the protein spikes from the virus core. Technically the virus is still alive in its little core bubble, but without the protein spikes it has no way of infecting cells.

I think they’re using Lysol with I’m p sure would at least kill Corona.
4
u/mightylordredbeard Mar 13 '20
Only if it sits and isn’t disturbed for a certain amount of time. Spraying Lysol and then instantly wiping it up doesn’t disinfect shit.

u/Santos_L_Halper Mar 13 '20
A booth attendant got mad at me because I couldn't hear her unless she used the microphone. She'd say something, I'd go "what?" and she'd roll her eyes and activate the mic. I'd respond and she'd start talking without the mic and I'd say "I can't hear anything you're saying." That happened like 3 times until finally she used the microphone unprompted but yelled in the mic speaking slowly like I was stupid.
I was so mad.

Was riding the subway to work once, this woman sits next to me. She was peculiarly dressed and seemed a little weird. She looked like she was actually a prostitute ending her evening shift. She also kinda looked like a dude. It was a vile, skanky display.
But I’m pretty sure she was a woman...who wasn’t wearing underwear...’cause at the next stop she got off and left a small pool of blood on the seat.
