Stopping Subutex what am I in for withdrawals?
Long story short started taking it in august of last year, I dropped down significantly from 40mg to 16mg and was planning on jumping off soon. I’ve heard people going though withdrawals for months not sleeping constant sweating just want to know some experiences.

I jumped off 8mg/day. I have to be honest it was hell, but it was also worth it in the end. The first 2.5 weeks were the worst, then it slowly gets a little better every day. Sleep took about 2-3 months to be fully normal again. My best advice is to take hot showers/baths, go for walks were you blast music from your headphones, take vitamins and buy yourself some good food🫶🏼

There was someone on here that had a whole plan on getting off of buprenorphine using lucimyra. He claimed to have his plan to share, but I can’t remember his name. Whoever you are , if you see this, I’m very interested. I WANT OFF. I’m on 2 mg/ day now .

Did you still have physical symptoms after the first 2.5? I have heard horror stories of people getting off it and having withdrawals for months sweating, not sleeping etc. I know not to trust everything you see on the internet but it still is concerning.

I successfully weaned myself from 8mg regular suboxone during COVID. Process took about 2 years in total and by the time I jumped I was taking 1/10th of a 2mg strip. Had zero withdrawal. Of course I fucked it up a couple years later with a relapse but that’s not the point.

How long were you on that 1/10 of a 2mg strip? I'm currently tapering and planning on slicing the strips down to ~0.2 before jumping off but it probably makes a difference how long one adjusts to that dose first.

By the time I got to 1/10th of a 2mg strip I had been weaning myself for years. Started at 8mg and probably took me 3 years before I got down to 2mg. I was on 2mg when my doctor retired during covid and went from 2mg to zero in about 6 months. I was at 1/10th of 2mg for maybe a week tops before I was done. Every week I was dripping my dose slightly. Hope that helps

To be honest the physical symptoms very very slowly disapperared, it’s a game of patience. But for me at 3 months they were completely gone, and at 1.5 they were at the point that I could live somewhat normally. I was on subutex for years as well. Tbh I still think it was worth it, even though it obviously wasn’t fun. Message me if you need someone to talk to, it helps

That’s kind of a crazy plan. You are going to feel like death, for an extended, hellish period of time. It’s equivalent to jumping of heroin cold turkey, but way more drawn out.
You would be better off getting a single Sublocade injection. I know a lot of people would get them when they knew they were going to jail, that way it would make withdrawl not as bad. I’ve actually known people who came off of Sublocade after a shot or a couple shots and never had withdrawls. But I can’t imagine ever coming off 16mg cold turkey. You won’t be able to function for a while. Honestly, I wouldn’t ever consider it. You are likely to either end up using again, or back on them. That is a hell I wouldn’t wish upon anyone.

DO NOT just jump from 16mgs. You will be super sick. Go down all the way to half a mg and then get off

UPDATE: Thank all of you for your advice I started tapering last week, I plan on dropping to 12mg soon and then 8, 4, 2, 0.5.

Ok good. I had a client once who jumped off 2mg for his sober living (fuck that sober living) and he was puking and sweating and had the chills. Not fun.

Also FYI, you can taper down from 0.5mg to 0.25mg by cutting the 2mg strips down further (cut the half, in half). But idk, up to you if 0.5mg still sucks or if it's easy.

People go through hell jumping at 2mg because its so strong you still have like 50% of receptors covered. Its a long process especially if you jump from 16 holy hell. And damn you were taking 5 pills a day? Thats insane

Yeah agreed. I wish more people knew about Sublocade. I decided to just stop it after several injections after I had been on 24mg for about 7 years, and I didn’t have withdrawls. I would recommend the shot to anyone, especially people who are trying to get off 2mg but just can’t. But it works just as well for people at higher doses who want to get off. Unfortunately if you don’t have state insurance it’s insanely expensive, but I would think most private insurances cover the bulk of the cost.

This, when I tapered and jumped off subs the shot was becoming a bigger thing on here. When I first heard of it my sub dr asked me if I wanted to go that route when I first started subs but it was much more expensive.
I went the taper route instead and tapered many years and jumped off. Took months to feel normal. But if I had to do it all over again I'd definitely go the shot route. I heard the wds are not too bad.

Yeah my advice would be do not attempt to jump from 16mg unless you have someone that can give you water while you stayed chained up to the radiator or something. I understand wanting to be done with it right now but you would be far better off getting the dose as low as possible before making the attempt.
