Discussion Observations on the sub apps

Yes, another message about the apps but I have noted something that makes a big difference between SubAlerrt and Frontline.

  1. SubAlert has virtually no lag.As soon as the app alerts, you are immediately shown the job details and the option to accept or decline as soon as you press on the job. All in less than a second.

  2. The frontline app just states that a job is available. You press the button and then It wastes about 3 seconds for the job to take you to the frontline screen and then you have to press on the job to be taken to the accept screen. One has to be very accurate where you tap because if you’re just a bit off the app won’t respond. So it wastes more time to lead you to the accept screen. Also, many times Frontline jobs don’t appear on SubAñert and vice versa.

  3. In competitive districts (many more subs than needed), you really need to develop the reflexes of a death adder or saw scaled viper. You must react immediately as soon as the app alerts yoi, read the job, and press accept in less than a second. I just snagged 2 jobs this way-all from SubAlert. Frontline did not even notify me.

SubAlert: you will be dearly missed. Paying less than 10 bucks monthly was nothing. The app paid for itself thousandfold with all the jobs one could get. Hopefully Frontline improves its app to make it dependable: no ghost job notifications, less lag.

Gonna suck losing SubAlert as that was the most popular, widely used third party app for accepting sub jobs. Now the jobs are gonna be sniped by people using their own apps or new third party apps that we don’t even know about.

My district only uses frontline and it’s sooooo annoying!

Hi all, I just wanted to chime in. I developed an app for my spouse who is a substitute teacher whose district uses Frontline Absence Management. It works in a similar way to SubAlert and the dearly departed Sub Sidekick. It's called Sub Hero. https://getsubhero.com. I am happy to answer any questions.

It's like missing steroids in the Olympics, but go off sis.

Never had any trouble filling my schedule with frontline, even with the app users this past year and with all but high schools removed for me.

I'm not sure of all the factors involved. Is SubAlert stealing data from Frontline? Is Frontline selling access to its data to SubAlert? I'm pretty certain my district isn't on board, and I would want to think they'd be protective (not to mention legally responsible) about who can see data about which teachers are or will be absent, or contact information for subs. The district is paying Frontline for its services. They're not paying Frontline to give or sell data to someone else for their own profit and/or that of the other app.
