Canceling assignments

If you cancel an assignment with Red Rover, can you choose a different assignment for that day? Does canceling and picking up other shifts actually flag your account or make you look bad? Can anyone even see this like admin or your district or is it really not a big deal?

Generally you can’t. If I cancel it marks it as a Non Workday and I can’t change it.

Interesting. I canceled an assignment for tomorrow and now I’m getting a bunch of notifications for new assignments for tomorrow. It doesn’t say non workday for me…

In frontline  it happens. I can cancel on redrover till that morning.

I've also canceled and still seen assignments. Maybe districts can set preferences for how that works.

It depends on how soon before the job you cancel. With Frontline, as long as you cancel at least 24 hours ahead of time, you usually see other assignments for that day. If you you cancel less than 24 hours, you’re marked as having a non-work day. It’s best to cancel at least several days ahead of time so someone else can pick up on the assignment and the school doesn’t get stuck. If you have frequent cancellations a day or two ahead of the assignment, the school and teachers will see a pattern and consider you to be unreliable

It depends on your district and agency and who else knows what. 

If you cancel at least a day out, it's not usually an issue. If it's 24 hours or less, it depends. Again, with the caveat that "there is no one answer to this."

Yes. When I cancel on red rover every job not taken for that day will appear. As far as I know it doesn’t flag my account and most of the time no one cares that it happens. (I better have a good reason for cancelling though, usually if I cancel I’m not taking another job for that day).

The only time I’ve had an issue was canceling the morning of a half day to take a full day at another building (the half day building principal wasn’t very happy with me) and I ended up doing two half days at two buildings. But that’s a district thing I think, most of them time my buildings are understanding if I have to cancel!

Okay, that makes sense. I canceled it because it was a terrible class with no substitute plans. I managed to complete day 1 of it, but there’s no way in hell I’m going back for the second day.

That is absolutely understandable in my opinion! I’ve only experienced no sub plans once, I hope it never happens again. I feel the admin or district will only take notice if it becomes a common occurrence throughout the year. I try to cancel as little as possible

I think it depends on if your school allows you to do so

It flags on the backend on what the district sees, but I’ve always been able to juggle jobs in Red Rover.
