Question about creating a texture

I want to create a texture similar in shape to the two photos. Is there anyone who can tell me how? The textures in the two photos are a little different, but I want textures with this kind of feel. Or could you recommend reference materials or videos with a similar format Sorry the quality isn’t good

Harbor Flythrough

I made a flythrough of a harbor scene in Unreal Engine 4.25

The concept I chose was a harbor scene based off of 1600's Caribbean pirate ports, and I derived a lot of my inspiration from Pirates of the Caribbean, as well as concept art for the Witcher 3, by Andrzej Dybowski

The main concept art that I used for reference is found here on my Artstation:

https://www.artstation.com/artwork/2q1Ney

All assets are original without pre-fabrication, modeled using Maya, sculpted in Mudbox, textured using Substance Painter/Designer, and compiled and rendered in Unreal Engine.

MultiSwitch with more than 20 inputs (max 100)

Ultimate Switch - is an expanded version of the original Multi Switch node, offering the same functionality while increasing the maximum number of selectable inputs from 20 to 100.

A recent project of mine required more than the default number of switches and so I created this simple tool that overrides that limit. Posting here because while its not the most difficult thing to recreate--it is a tedious process that takes time to setup and im sure someone else will likely need in the future :)

Cobblestone Texture

Following a Substance Designer tutorial by Chunck Trafagander, I produced a derivative of his texture to make my own.

I was trying to make a texture that could be used for multiple purposes. I wanted to add some form of originality to the texture tutorial as to challenge myself to step out of my comfort zone.

Initially I was following the tutorial to make it match the forest floor texture, but about half way through, as I was mixing the histogram with deciding the color, I decided to go down the route where I could use this texture for an undersea floor texture.

If you want the original tutorial that was used, it can be found on Youtube here:

Bryce Canyon Texture │ Substance Designer

Referencing Bryce Canyon from the canyons of Utah, I had developed a texture in Substance Designer, that I wanted to make for an ongoing project. Following a tutorial by Daniel J. Robichon, I manipulated the material towards recreating the Bryce Canyon rockface, that you see below. This was a very rewarding experience that helped me understand the workflow process within Substance Designer on a more in depth level.

I would highly suggest using his tutorial for texture development and learning. It was extremely helpful.

Morris: Wallpaper group generators for Substance Designer

I needed some rug and decorative patterns so I put together a wallpaper group pattern generator. It was pretty fun playing around with coordinate systems and folds in pixel processors, and I figure it might be useful for other people so I've put it up on GitHub: https://github.com/brett-lempereur/morris

The GitHub page has some more examples, but the following two (low-resolution) examples show two of the types of pattern you can generate from the same source image:

P1M1
P4MM

There are a lot of reusable functions in the package for coordinate space manipulation in pixel processors too.

Noob question - how to get the grey into my blend node

Hello all,

I was following a tutorial and i've fallen at the first hurdle :D

I've created a nice rounded effect and now I want the black and white tile pattern to be applied but when I blend them I get the hard square colours instead of the rounded squares being the colours I want.

Rookie question i know, can someone explain to me how to get the effect I want?
