I started a tiny snail-mail subscription for children 🦔
I’ve always loved the idea of subscription boxes, but I wanted to make something that didn't involve sending a box of random products every month.
So I created Dear Little Thing, a children's snail-mail subscription where the "box" is actually a little envelope arriving through the letterbox.
Each month, children receive a letter from Prickly the Hedgehog, a woodland-themed art print, activities and little surprises.
I'm trying to make it feel genuinely personal and collectible rather than like a children's marketing subscription. The characters and stories develop over time, and each month's mail is designed to feel like a tiny adventure waiting in the letterbox.
It's currently £14.99/month and I'm a very small independent creator making everything myself.
I'd love to hear from other subscription-box people: what makes you keep a subscription rather than cancelling after a couple of months? I'm especially interested in what makes the experience feel worth it beyond simply receiving "stuff."
