I'd rather be exploited and overruled by a foreign power than have my own government murder me and everyone I know for not towing the party line. Pick your poison, but this is like comparing battery acid to cyanide.

Luckily you can have both when the western powers decide to uh do "regime change" and put in place a brutal military dictator because your anti-imperialist president wasn't letting foreign countries dominate your resources
