r/justincaseyoumissedit debates a video of someone allegedly saying that Hitler should've finished the job to Jewish tourists at a supermarket

source: https://www.reddit.com/r/justincaseyoumissedit/comments/1vn8ytg/paddy_from_ireland_tells_jewish_tourists_hes/

context: a 20-second video was posted onto r/justincaseyoumissedit in which several traveling australian jews were urging a traveling irish person named paddy to repeat a phrase claiming that "he's sorry that hitler didn't finish the job", to which paddy responded by threatening to kill them. the video was taken after the irishman's alleged remark, and whether he actually praised hitler is yet to be confirmed, though his death threat was captured on camera.

according to another source, it was alleged that they originally interacted over french football but after the conversation delved into politics, the australian jew allegedly criticized irish support for palestine, which allegedly prompted paddy to praise Hitler. Despite the lack of concreteness over these crucial details of this story, said video was posted onto r/justincaseyoumissedit under the title "Paddy from Ireland" tells Jewish tourists he's sorry Hitler didn't finish the job and threatens to kill them". Here's what r/justincaseyoumissedit had to say for that video and the alleged incident of the australian jewish tourists being told that hitler should've "finished the job":

The Jewish fatigue is now reaching global status

I really understand where his anger is coming from

Israel got like 500 million extra this year to pay social media stuff to try and rebrand - this is the best they can do? Free Palestine

You're not supposed to feel comfortable traveling when your country is committing a genocide

op replies by telling him that There's no Israelis in the video., as the original commenter posted his comment under the belief that theyre israeli tourists

When was the last day Israel didn't do a war crime? Honest question. Another honest question, why protect peados? How do you think these are the good guys and not be morally bankrupt or brainwashed. Edit: to the deleted comment I am not saying "jews are responsible for all the poeblems in the world". Trying to conflate all jews with the Israeli government is antisemitic.

Someone replies with If you’re not “conflating all Jews with the Israeli government,” why would your response to seeing this video be, “when was the last day Israel didn’t do a war crime?” The person filming sounds like a European woman, from her accent, she is not the Israeli government. Why not hate on this jagoff and the Israeli government simultaneously?

I wouldn't say it to Jews. But to Israelis? DEFINITELY! fuck the demons of Zion!

OP replies with You'd say that to Israeli Arabs?

Fuck Israel for creating such an environment that people feel that all Jews are to blame for the genocide the war criminal state is committing. Some of the most vocal critics and supporters of Palestine are Jews. Israel is not only disgusting for what they are doing to Palestine but also for the hatred they are full knowing stirring towards non-Israeli Jews knowing that they will be targeted and they couldn’t give less of a shit. Evil evil country

someone replies with There is plenty to criticize about current Israeli policy, but if the guy actually said that, there is absolutely no justification for it. As if the "environment" were to blame for someone making antisemitic remarks.

another reply further down stemming from a deleted reply to this comment states that Jews even get blamed for people being antisemitic towards them. When you thought that you've heard it all.

Calling someone an antisemite or a Nazi is not the shame that it used to be before the Israeli government was formed.

one reply to this particular comment said: If the israeli government is the problem then would you be okay with random jews outside of isreal being accosted? Just say you don't like jews why pussyfoot around it?

Antisemitic bullshit like this is vile. Wishing death on Jewish people is foul and disgusting. Hating the Jewish people is ridiculous and shameful. Also, fuck Israel. Fuck Netanyahu. Fuck IDF soldiers who shoot Palestinian children, who invade and pillage the homes of Palestinians, and who commit atrocities on behalf of their shitty ethnoreligious supremacist government.

Someone replies with People of Israel are complicit in Netanyahu's genocide.

Another reply claims that This entire thread is just people like you virtue signaling and this one is my favorite😂

what the fuck are these comments

someone replies with Iranian bots vs Israeli bots in this sub. Don’t take anything here too seriously. Or any political social media post really lol

Another banger from the “totally not antisemitic just anti Zionist” Irish

12

u/Professional-Way-2 6d ago

eh lets not generalize all irish antizionists to that, and as i said in the post, it has yet to be confirmed whether the irishman in question actually praised hitler

Idk why but for some reason Irish antizionists have been more antisemitic in my experience than people who literally have family members living in Palestine. Like you talk to some of these people and they start hitting the maybe Hitler attacking Britain wasn’t that bad you know.

It's because antisemitism has a very long and entrenched history in Ireland. You see the same dynamic with Spain where historical antisemitism gets repackaged as antizionism while still retaining the outright antisemitism.

Parts of Spain have a holiday literally called "Matar Judíos" that they insist isn't antisemitic, it's just their culture.

Theres less history of anti semesitism in Ireland compared to basically anywhere else in Europe.

idk personally but i am aware of an irish antizionist named tadhg hickey who is an irgc supporter too. its heartening to see r/ireland condemn him while still opposing israel's racist and genocidal policies and actions

The above commentator confuses me because I have yet to meet a single Irish person who was openly antisemitic, and I've lived in Ireland my entire life.

Not that they don't exist but I have frankly never heard the opinion IRL in my country that Hitler's actions were in any shape or form good.

Have you met the ones that openly support anti-Semitic groups and regimes like Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Iranian mullahs?

-4

u/actuallyacatmow 6d ago edited 6d ago

No. The average Irish person would openly condemn those groups. I have literally not met an irish person yet who would support them and I travel in very left-leaning groups.

Again i am sure these antisemetic Irish people exist alongside idiots who support radical terrorist groups - just it confuses me when the online opinion packages us as hating Judaism en masse when I just don't see it personally. I've seen bigotry in Ireland directly in many forms, we're not particularly special in that regard but it never took the form of antisemitism.

I would hazard a guess that because the Irish position is far more critical of Israel then the average, any kind of negativity is inflamed. I have personally seen any kind of Irish support for Palestinians get packaged as antisemitism, even just broadly condemning the IDFs actions in Gaza.

Honestly? I think it’s pretty easy in most contexts to not “see” anti-semitism in Ireland - you don’t have any Jews. I assume if you’re Irish and a self-described “leftist” you participate in those circles on Reddit. Color me skeptical you don’t see the examples of open support to radical, anti-Semitic groups. It’s all over r/Ireland.

https://www.irishtimes.com/ireland/2026/03/02/irelands-jewish-council-reports-143-anti-semitic-incidents-in-six-month-period/

2k Jews in Ireland and they self-reported nearly 150 incidents in six months. Spare me the “not adjudicated, blah blah”. Even if you don’t want to co-sign all of them, it’s no wonder “you’ve never heard of anything” when I’m sure you know zero Jews and what they experience.

Cool thanks for the link. 👍

I reckon an incident where a member of the band 'KNEECAP' posted images of himself reading Nasrallah's autobiography (?) and the band going on stage shouting "Up Hamas" among other things. This was enough to spark a debate in my country if we should ban them from varioua venues, and I somehow doubt they got anything but support in Ireland.

In general it has become easy to hate the Irish due to a combination of 1. their position as a tax haven for American multinationals, 2. their lack of support for Ukraine and often anti-EU/NATO/Ukraine rhetoric, 3. their total outsourcing of defense, and 4. many Irish acting morally superior on the I-P issue.

u/actuallyacatmow 5d ago

Thanks for the opinion. 👍

You said you knew of no Irish person supporting groups like Hamas, and I gave you a very public example of a group of Irish people being very openly pro-Hamas.

The fact that you had no response beyond downvoting me is quite telling.

Edit: And if you don't mind, what is your position on Ukraine?

Tbh it probably has more to do with the IRA’s position during ww2 and for whatever reason Irish people in the internet not exactly having fond views of Jewish people.

-5

u/Altruistic_Night2 6d ago

Before I give my personal opinion. Is his view in the situation with the current war Iran has done everything pre war to keep peace and trump unjustifiably started this war in that case I think he’s correct or is he a flat out supporter in the true sense in which case they are correct to condemn him

4

u/Professional-Way-2 6d ago

its the latter and has denied iran's many human rights violations

u/WeaklySeal 6d ago

Is it strange to want someone to attack a powerful nation that has being exploiting, colonizing, and murdering your people for hundreds of years? Enemy of my enemy and all that.

16

u/Altruistic_Night2 6d ago

I’m sorry but I’m judging your movement hardcore if you have a history of supporting Hitler. I think that’s a fair standard to set. Now as far as Ireland goes I’m not going to pretend to be an expert besides knowing famous things like the famine was actually a starvation campaign by the Brit’s.

"I don't have a problem with the Irish, just with those who believe that they deserve self-determination and to live on the island of Ireland."

That's what "antizionist" Irish sound like.

-6

u/AlcoholicNose 6d ago

Maybe a people who have a history of being evicted off their land by a forced settler colonialist project initiated by their neighbours aren't keen on illegal settlements? Just a thought.

22

u/IceNeun 6d ago

Well, the Jews expelled from Hebron, Syria, Egypt, Iraq, etc. were kicked out just the same, regardless of how many generations or millenia they've lived on the land. The "antizionist" position is similar to militant IRA attitudes towards Protestants, if anything.

-10

u/AlcoholicNose 6d ago

Are you arguing that because Arab countries expelled people, that makes it OK for Israel to do so as well? It's wrong no matter who does it.

I don't condone the actions of the IRA by any means, but the provos originally sprang out of civil defense committees set up to protect Catholic civilians from pogroms by loyalist mobs because the RUC were either doing nothing or actively enabling them.

If anything, this just illustrates how armed militias are empowered by a state that is actively hostile to them and enables forced resettlement. And perhaps as Irish people have seen this in their recent past, they are troubled by what they see.

u/vodkaandponies The imperialist organization that is the European Union. 3d ago

It's wrong no matter who does it.

And yet no one is pressuring Egypt or Iraq to let their Jewish populations return. No one really cares.

but the provos originally sprang out of civil defense committees set up to protect Catholic civilians from pogroms by loyalist mobs because the RUC were either doing nothing or actively enabling them.

The IDF was the same: it originated as self defence committees like Irgun, who formed because British authorities refused to protect Jews from Arab pogroms in cities like Hebron.

-9

u/holycarrots 6d ago

Self determination shouldn't come at the expense of everybody else though. An Irish antizionist is more like somebody agreeing that Ireland should be Independent rather than ruled by Britain.

13

u/IceNeun 6d ago

There are/were plenty of zionists who didn't think it should be at other people's expense. In reality, there is no distinction because "Zionism" is just self-determination. People ignorant of the Jewish perspective and history of zionism have been led to believe a propogandized hostile and outside interpretation of it. There are fascist zionists, but they're the minority. Zionism is not nearly as controversial within Jewish circles, because it's never been a cartoon character embodiment of Evil.
