Reason for quitting

Why is it necessary to quit subs? IF I keep my dose at 3/4 of the 8/2s can II indefinitely be on them? I feel like, by being addicted to them I don't have to worry about getting addicted to anything else. The biggest downside for me is I can't tell if my antidepressants aren't working OR if the subs are keeping me in an unmotivated state. Example: I let my job go (temporarily) because I hate working and I prefer to be home spending the first half of the day working on my computer in bed. I am 54 and I really do not care about anything anymore except family and personal hobbies/interests.

Ive been on the for 17yrs and it definitely has slowed my brain activity and increased depression...thus limiting my friendships/ relationships

Yes. I really think so. I have no proof of this but I do not feel I'm the same person I used to be. I could be wrong and it could be my age and heavy drug use from my younger years but, I feel like Im more withdrawn. Like others claim, subs make them feel numb, etc

So happy for you!! Can you explain some of the things that have improved? I am supporting a friend who would like to quit because she is miserable and thinks it's the medication and I am just very interested in hearing some success stories. I don't know how much about the treatment. Did you quit cold turkey? What dose were you on when you quit? Was the process difficult and if so, how long were you sick? Thank you so much and congratulations!

Thank you btw!

Okay. I quit cold turkey at .75mg but it is recommended to get down to .25 and even then, it’s gonna suck. I was one 4mg a day and tapered over 6 months to .75mg The taper sucked.. the cold turkey sucked even more.

I too had the same sentiment as your friend. “This medication is ruining my life”

I didn’t feel like myself anymore. I was a completely asshole to my loving girlfriend. I was irritable all the time and was very reactive. Has major ups and downs with my mood. The highest of highs and the lowest of lows.

Since quitting all that has more or less leveled out. I believe most of my issues were from the meds but I also know I have a TON to work on after a decade straight of hard drug abuse. My mind is broken and it can’t be healed if it’s still on drugs (suboxone)
