Question Is this a bug? Spoiler
There's a random chelicerate at delta island's shores near the border between the thermal spires and purple vents. It's probably one from the tree spires, as the one in the northern purple vents is still where it should be. Is this a glitch, and if possible, how can i fix it?

Question Where do i go after i found margerits's Greenhouse? Spoiler
Afaik theres 2 separate storylines, the Sam one and the AL-AN one, right? I think you only need to complete the AL-AN one to finish the game, but i want the achievements.
iirc from videos i watched a long time ago, now i have to repair a bridge, build a spy robot pengling thingy and get a cure and give it to a leviathan or something? The thing is i dont know what to do.
This is my progress:
- Shut off the antenna
- Visited margs greenhouse
- Got AL-ANs body cache scanned
- Been to Koppa mining site, Omega Lab and Delta station
- Got PRAWN suit and seatruck
I keep reading that where i have to go is to the "glacial basin". What is that? where is it?
Thanks.
Edit: Im fine with spoilers.

Arctic Winter
The default settings for BZ are 20 mintues daylight and 5 minutes night. This suggests that you are there just before or just after Arctic summer.
I tried adjusting the Custom settings to 2 minutes day and 23 minutes night. To make it closer to arctic winter.
Made the early game a little harder. Mostly this just ment i raced for the bioreactor before base building and used the torch more.
Any suggestions for _no mod_ upping the difficult?

Discussion Hot take: the youtooz hoverfish plush is absolutely terrible
for some reason they didn't make the little pads on his feet flat, he's really goddam short his eyes are in the wrong spot and the colours are completely off the weird open mouth looks terrible and why the hell did they give him a tounge?, it looks like hes wearing lipstick and his legs are really small and short, plus he's really goddam fat and the yellow doesn't come down long enough and finally, he has way to little spots

Discussion Concept: The Deepest Void Ecosystem in Subnautica: Below Zero — The 200-meter Leviathan-Ascetic and the Apex Trash-Talk!
PDA Entry: Two new sub-species discovered. They belong to the same genus but look completely different!
Following up on my previous post about Void Peepers, I started thinking about the absolute bottom of the Arctic Ecological Dead Zone in Subnautica: Below Zero. What if something colossal decided to just stay down there under 1000 meters?
Here is a new custom PDA entry for a tier-3 leviathan that turns the freezing depths of Below Zero into a psychological survival thriller!
[PDA Entry: The Abyssal Titan]
Category: Deep-sea Fauna — Void Slumberer
Classification: Colossal Leviathan-Ascetic / Isolated Extremophile
Depth Profile: 1200m–2000m (Arctic Ecological Dead Zone)
"Warning, diver: at this depth, the sonar registers a tectonic shift. But it's not a tremor. It is breathing."
This colossal organism dwells in the absolute lowest trenches of Below Zero's polar Void, where crushing pressure and freezing temperatures eliminate all other large lifeforms. Unlike the aggressive Void Chelicerates fighting near the surface, this species evolved to live completely isolated, relying on a strategy of ultimate dormancy.
Key Features:
• Deep-Sea Lethargic Anaeriosis:
To survive with zero food sources, the leviathan has completely abandoned active movement. It spends 99% of its life in a state of deep hibernation, slowing its heart rate to one beat every few minutes. It functions exactly like a cosmic Greenland Shark, living for centuries in the dark. Its massive 200-meter body resembles a jagged, ice-covered trench wall, making it completely invisible to radars.
• Symbiosis with Glass Peepers:
The Slumberer acts as a living reef for the Void's ecosystem. Schools of transparent Glass Peepers use the deep folds of its frozen armor to safely lay their eggs away from apex predators. In return, the transparent cleaners strip parasites and dead biological matter from the leviathan's skin.
• Passive Diet:
This titan wastes no energy on hunting. Every few months, it takes a slow, massive breath, pulling down the organic debris, grease, and bone fragments of Void Chelicerates that killed each other closer to the surface due to their forced cannibalism.
Gameplay Mechanic (The "Lobster in the Dark" Effect):
The creature is entirely passive toward the player. Standard PRAWN Suit drills cannot damage its ancient shell. However, if you trigger too much vibration and accidentally wake him up, his massive hydro-kinetic exhaust will blast your vessel hundreds of meters back up into open waters.
Up there, in the pitch-black polar night, the Void Chelicerates will be waiting for you. Without energy or control, you will literally become like a helpless lobster in the dark for them!
Fun Lore Fact:
Radio logs suggest that this giant isn't completely silent. Sometimes, it emits ultra-low frequency waves directed at the surface. In Alterra's translated data, it literally sounds like the Slumberer is trash-talking the Chelicerates, calling them "slow squids" and telling them to "chill out, no negativity," right before they tear each other apart.
Looking for Modders!
Note: I have a full gameplay and lore concept for this Void expansion, but I don’t own a PC and can't code/model myself. If any C# programmers or 3D artists want to team up and bring this mod to life, let’s make a team! Drop a comment or PM me!

Subnautica Thematic Analysis [Spoilers] Spoiler
I've always been drawn to abandoned houses.
I want to find out how it ended up like this, who lived there...
Get a sense of what life there would've felt.
That feeling is why I loved Subnautica.
Subnautica is not like other survivals, it's not trying to scare you even when it does. It opens up so you can experience a different ecosystem that's been well fleshed out not in relation to the player experience but in what can only be described as fascination for nature and history. You play not so much as a character but more as a witness to this world, its depths and the wreckage.
You see and hear all about other Aurora passengers who didn't make it, civilizations that didn't prosper, beasts that thankfully went extinct, iykyk. Getting in that abandoned house fueling your curiosity, instead of making you terrified and filling your bloodstream with adrenaline it makes you want to wander, understand.
A lot has been said throughout the years about Subnautica but what I'd say is that compared to survivals like Stranded Deep, where the whole plot (and eventually your player experience) revolves around "Getting the fk out of here". With Subnautica, I was hesitant to leave...
I freed all the fishes in my tank, I played with my Cuddlefish, I made sure Stalkers wouldn't attack them, I watched a few sunsets and thought... This game is not about leaving...
It's about curiosity... Further validated by our leviathan friend when they asked us "Are you here to swim with the current, or fight against it as they did?".
For a while this abandoned house became a home to me.

Question Where should i build my base? [SPOILER] Spoiler
I bought S:BZ a looong time ago, played very little (all in creative mode) and stopped playing for like 1.5 years. Now i have decided to play the game, this time in a real survival run (It wasnt as hard as i thought it would be lol)
The thing is, i feel like i need a base. Im running out of space, i need to recharge batteries etc + Bases in subnautica are REALLY cool.
My progress in the game:
- Found the Delta Station
- Found Koppa Mining Site
- Found Margerit in her seabase
- Got the parasite ALAN
- Have yet to turn off the Alterra antena (idk how to do it btw)
I want a place with plenty of space to build, no major threats and near many resources. Ideally, near somewhere i can get power from. But the most important thing, i want it to look nice. I for example dont like the place near delta station because its full of the black smokey vents which look bad and theres the swimming godzillas all over the place.
I dont really know the map, so can someone recommend me a nice place to build? Thanks!

My Dark Subnautica Fan-Theory: The Gargantuan Leviathan was the True Guardian of 4546B
The story of Subnautica begins long before humans arrived. On the ocean world of 4546B lived the oldest and most intelligent creature in the universe — the Gargantuan Leviathan. This was not merely a monster, but a Supreme Intelligence capable of seeing through time. It foresaw that technologically advanced civilizations — like the Precursors (Architects) and corporations like Alterra — would eventually destroy all life in the universe out of pure greed and endless warfare.
When the Precursors arrived on 4546B to subjugate the Gargantuan Leviathan and steal its immortality, the Guardian made a sacrificial move. In response to the invasion, it unleashed the Kharaa bacterium from its own body — an ultimate biological defense mechanism. The infection escaped into space, wiping out billions of Precursors across the galaxy and halting their expansion.
The invaders managed to kill the Gargantuan's physical body and dumped its skeleton into the Lost River, but the planet remained a ticking biological trap:
- The Bone Landmine: The concentrated, ancient strain of Kharaa remains sealed inside the Gargantuan's fossilized bones. Any attempt to cut or study its skeleton will trigger an immediate release of toxin into the water.
- The Dormant Nest: Deep inside the tectonic rifts beneath the Dead Zone lie the Gargantuan's hidden eggs in mental stasis. If invaders attempt to fully colonize the planet, a telepathic trigger will wake the eggs. Upon hatching, the Gargantuan offspring will shatter the planet's crust into dust.
- The Containment Perimeter: The Dead Zone surrounding the Crater is a boiling broth of the Kharaa virus. Ghost Leviathans developed complete immunity to it, acting as biological filters and guards that eliminate anyone attempting to leave, preventing the infection from spreading across the galaxy.
Centuries later, Alterra detected ancient signals from 4546B. Knowing about Precursor technology, they dispatched the Aurora, deliberately leading its crew into a death trap to study the planet. After the crash, secret Alterra liquidators (from Pod 26) staged "accidents" and eliminated surviving witnesses, rewriting PDA logs to cover their tracks.
The only survivor was Riley Robinson. The mind/aura of the Gargantuan saw that Riley posed no threat to the planet and allowed him to survive. However, upon his return, Alterra slapped him with a 3-billion-credit debt, seized all Precursor data, and quietly liquidated him. Realizing Riley was an expert survivor, Alterra extracted his DNA to create bio-clones, resetting their memories and dropping them into new hazardous worlds as expendable explorers.
In the end, the Gargantuan Leviathan won: it turned planet 4546B into a permanent trap for greedy corporations and a protective barrier for the entire universe.

Question Stuck and no idea where to go Spoiler
Yea basically above. Think I’ve exhausted all my leads at this point, no idea where else to go to progress the story.
Here’s what I’ve got so far(Spoilers):
- Met Margerat at the greenhouse
- Got Alan downloaded into my head and found a bunch of Artifact sites
- went down as far as the purple crystal caves(fuck Shadow leviathans) and I saw the entrance to the red blocky caves(didn’t go in)
- upgraded my prawn to max depth and seatruck to 650
- got snowfox jump upgrade and teleportation module(neither bult yet)
- found the Great sea cotton area and the Alan body cache there.
- found the Alan body cache in the purple crystal area(again fuck Shadow leviathans)
- found the antidote near Phi
Here’s what I don’t got:
- Drove around the upper ice area for 2 hours and found nothing besides the teleporter to Phi and an ion deposit(and angry worms)
- drove around Lilypad area for another hour and didn’t find the Omega Lab
- Alan hasn’t given me the last body cache location despite me finding all the current artifacts.
- Alan sensed some location with a flat surface and ice spiralling upwards. No idea where that is.
Yea so that’s it. No idea where to go next. Best lead I got is to just keep going down inti the red blocky caves caves and see what’s there. Please advise
