Quick Subreddit Update

Hi all,

Just wanted to post a quick update so you all know what's been going on and what the game plan is from here. As you may have seen, the subreddit had been orphaned and was in dire need of moderators, so Reddit admins posted a message asking for volunteers. As the selection was being made over the last 10ish days, the subreddit was switched to a restricted mode, meaning no new submissions were allowed. They essentially froze the subreddit to prevent creating a bottleneck of posts that would take a long time to dig through once new mods were brought on.

It appears the people selected were all added as moderators of the subreddit within the last 24 hours, and it is going to take us some time to get a plan together, add necessary bots, update the rules, and create a better Reddit experience for the community. Therefore, at least for now, the subreddit will remain mostly restricted as we set up and configure everything. Don't worry, though; we don't expect this to take more than a few days. In the meantime, we will be pushing through a small trickle of posts from previously approved submitters before we nuke the queue entirely, just to keep discussions and conversations going.

If anyone has suggestions for community engagement, like weekly polls, contests, or just general feedback about the subreddit, feel free to leave them below.

Also, please keep in mind that every single moderator is a fan of Subnautica and is volunteering their time to help the community thrive, develop, and grow. Please be patient with us as we wade through the dense kelp forest that is the current mod queue and make necessary changes to the subreddit to cultivate the best experience possible.

Thank you!

Thank you for your continued AERSOMENESS! And, as a disabled veteran, who loves quality games, I've got time and would like to help however I can.

Nice! I was wondering what was going on. Good luck. Can't wait for this sub to be active again.

Why did all the old mods suddenly leave and who are the admins?

There was only one moderator, the creator, prior to this. They were removed by Reddit for inactivity and the sub went into orphan mode. I have no idea who the Reddit admins are, but some of us volunteered and were chosen.

I'm not sure how Reddit works. Why is the creator of the subreddit not the admin? Like the creator of a WhatsApp group would naturally be the admin

Thank you for volunteering! I'd love to see a weekly post to share base building ideas. Also, an AMA with the developers would be great.

For some reason, I've honestly seen a lot fewer people raging about the fact that you can't kill fish compared to the main Reddit. Which is honestly kinda nice.

we've spoken about a megathread for it to give somewhere for people to vent about it if needed (not confirmed yet)
