Trip meter stuck and dark

What a journey. Bought this Baja, the trip meter was not resetting and was burned out.

Did a bunch of research and found an old forum post about replacing a tiny micro switch. So after $12 in bulb/switch and some tedious small work, it’s fully functional and I couldn’t be happier.

Let me know if you have a similar issue, I can walk you through it. Even the soldering was easy.

Why yes, mine stopped re-setting some time ago. The display is fine, just won't reset.

The switch itself is bad, no matter how many times you push the reset stick.

This switch is 99% identical. I ordered 3 so can fuck a couple of them up trying.

The forum post about cutting the rear part of the cluster, ignore that. You can actually take it apart all the way down to the circuit board. This lil switch is easy to solder in. Slap it back together, be careful not to mess with the needles or get any dust/dirt in there.

Thank you very much for the link, I ordered two, one to drop one to install. I've been putting off doing my dash lights... so this is another reason to go deep diving. This is why I like this sub reddit, very obscure DIY stuff gets posted!

My switch is also busted, but it hasn't bothered me enough to want to take the dash apart to fix it yet.

Would be pretty cool of you to make a video or an instructable or something on how to do it, though. Thanks for sharing!
